Need your advice PLZZZ!! Which ocean do you prefer?

Help! Need your travel advice. Do you prefer the Gulf water or Atlantic ocean? We can't decide on which area in Florida we should vacation. Some areas rests on the gulf while some places rests on the Atlantic. DH likes the waves and sounds of the ocean. Which would be better? We would definitely get an oceanview room wherever we decide to go. Also, curious which ocean is more prettier/clearer/blue?

Thanks!!!!

Love the Gulf of Mexico. White sand, clear, warmer waters. Spent many summers there as kids enjoying the Gulf in Texas. Some in FL.

Hi travelin,

Gulf, gulf, gulf, gulf, gulf....
Endless beach w/ tons of beautiful shells, clear blue water...

Some folks like waves (east coast ocean) some folks like calmer waters (gulf). Also depends on time of year. I think the gulf water is vey warm in summer. Certain times of year there is a jelly fish problem on the ocean side. The water is not the only difference though. Different areas have different feel/appeal. Your title is also misleading BTW. You might get better response with Fla-Gulf side vs Ocean side.

Maybe I should change the title. (thanks!!) We would be going to Florida in the fall, possibly October.

Try both and decide for your self. I have never wanted to go to FL but love the east coast around NJ to Maine. Oh and the Outer banks NC, too. but the Gulf is nice. Swam in the Gulf in March, chilly but doable for alittle time anyway. Remember in OCt in Fl the "snowbirds" are staring to arrive!

This one is simple! If your husband wants "waves & the sound of the ocean" you need to go to Florida's East Coast! But, you really need to experience both to see whether you are "East Coast" or "West Side" people! Me? I'm East Coast! I like the West side but I love the East Coast!! :) :)

Is the Gulf water similiar to the Caribbean?

Do them both and decide for yourself. The east and west coasts of Florida are about two hours apart. You could easily spend three or four days in Naples then three or four days in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.
