have visited EVERY state west of the Mississippi! What are your favorite things to see/do in Idaho and Kansas? Special resturants,pubs,state parks,shopping? Once these two are complete,I want to knock out WV,NH,VT,RI,ME.But first KS and ID,ok?

Kansas: Fort Larned National Historical Site & Dodge City.

Idaho: Snake River, Craters of the Moon National Monument and Sawtooth National Recreational Area.

DavRan, if you refer to casino boats as part of Kansas you are wrong - they are in Missouri.

The list given by Keith is good but I would add Ft Leavenworth as an interesting place to visit. Lots of history and neat buildings from 1800s.

Johnson County, in northeast part of Kansas, is the most sophisticated part of Kansas and offers the most in the way of arts and culture. It is a pretty wealthy area with lots of good dining and shopping. If you are into NASCAR you could see the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, which is in Wyandotte county which butts agains Johnson county on the north. There is also a Cabela's store in the same area as the race track, which draws them in by the thousands (but I never understood why).

The Flint Hills, on the way between Wichita and the Johnson County area are impressive. Very pretty in their own way and interesting to see the large cattle ranches.

Southeast Kansas has a legacy of coal mining, but in strip pits, not mines. Most of it is gone now, but there are still lots of the old pits left behind, and an interesting display of a gigantic mining machine called Big Brutus, left in place when the pit closed as it would cost to much to move. You can visit the site and go inside this huge machine. It is located in the town of West Mineral, west of Pittsburg.

Hi! Lots of things to do in Idaho if you enjoy white water rafting, hiking, boating, skiing, etc. I started to make a list of places that we have enjoyed including Lake Coeur d'Alene, Priest Lake, the Sawthooth Recreational Area, the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness...but found a website that might help you find something you would enjoy:
