Need to go to Burlington, what big cities are nearby to fly into?
The disclaimer . . . I did a search here . . . I googled Burlington . . . I don't have a US map at home . . . I'm coming to the experts.
I have the offer of a (free) timeshare for a week in mid-Feb. in Burlington. I tried Orbitz, Kayak to find affordable airfare . . . not affordable (for me). I looked at flying into JFK and taking Jetblue and it's still too expensive.
Are there any alternate airports I could try? I will need to rent a car anyway and don't mind driving within 2 hrs.
I might just need to cut my losses early and decline the offer.
Thanks in advance for any info/advice.

If it is indeed Burlington, Vermont you're talking about (not Burlington, Iowa or Burlington NC), Manchester NH, Boston MA and Albany NY are probably the closest "larger" airports, although I'd suspect it'd take once closer to 3 hrs. drive to Burlington. Trudeau airport here in Montreal is probably closest, although renting a car across the border may be challenging (mind you, I've never attempting this)... and bus from Trudeau airport-->downtown Montreal-->Burlington may be too time consuming.

A three hour drive to Burlington, VT in mid-February could be chancy. You never know about the weather or the roads. Roads aren't usually trecherous for more than a few hours, but you should have a contingency plan.

Albany and Manchester are the closest, but they should not be that much cheaper than flying directly into Burlington, although Southwest Airlines has some better fares to Albany. Where are you flying from? Also, where is the time share in Burlington? Most VT timeshares are at the ski resorts...

I found out the timeshare is at Lake Placid . . . I was told the closest airport is Burlington.
I have been checking out the suggestions here and found a fairly good fare to Albany on SW (from Dallas-Ft Worth area). I did Mapquest and it said it is approx. 2.5 hrs driving time.
After considering the weather and highway conditions and expense in getting there/back, I may find that I could go to Europe for the same $$.
Something to think about . . .

For Lake Placid the best airport is Albany. Southwest has good service there so you can get there 1 stop from Dallas. Numerous other airlines as well, so there are competitive fares. It's about 2hr drive from ALB to Lake Placid. I87 isn't a bad drive, and unless it is actively snowing road conditions should not be a problem.
Drive from JFK would be 5+hrs.
If you need a local map, let me know
