Please help! My son wants to come home from Kingston, Ontario Canada for their Canadian Thanksgiving(our Columbus Day weekend). I thought that we could get him by flying to Syracuse and renting a car to cross the border. My husband says that he heard there are five hour lines there both ways at customs. Does anyone have any info? His other alternate way is to take two buses from school to Toronto airport but schedules for bus and air are no working out.Could anyone help a mom who would ove to see her college son for 3 days? Thanks!

Couldn't he ask someone for a lift to Toronto? Then he wouldn't have to rely on the bus/train schedules. I am sure that there are a lot of people at Queen's that will be heading to Toronto for the holiday.

There's an international airport in Ottawa, he could check on the bus and train schedules to there instead of Toronto.

Have friends who recently crossed there (last Thursday)with a motorhome and had no problems with a minimal wait. Yesterday, they crossed from Buffalo into Canada and back into USA at Detroit and also had no problems. Check the border crossing websites, or better yet, call them and they will let you know what to expect.

I agree with Gail. I have talked to severaust be preparel friends who have made the trip both ways from Canada, and it seems the delays are isolated to truck traffic. I wouldn't imagine the delay would be significant. J
