Need to find a German restaurant in downtown Philly
I recently posted about Marrakesh in Philly. We will be in Phily for a few nights and my husband wants to eat in a German restaurant. Does anyone know of one?

Ludwig's Garden is what you're looking for.
If Belgian works too, then Monks or another place (sorry, don't remember the name) at Chestnut & 2nd will work. |
We already went on our trip and we ate at Ludwig's Garden. We enjoyed it immensely. Philly had very bad weather the day we arrived and no one else was in the restaurant. Talk about personalized service! I'm not a beer drinker but I had an amazing raspberry Belgium beer. The food was great too. I've been meaning to post a small trip report but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

The "other" place is Eulogy Belgian Tavern at 2nd and Chestnut. Great Belgian beers on tap. ((b))

Or...you could try out Pennsylvania German cooking at the "Dutch Eating Place" in Reading Terminal Market. Fab breakfasts, great PA Dutch lunch specials--chicken and waffles, etc. (breakfast and lunch only).

My wife loves a Belgian rasberry beer called Lindeman's Framboise. They also make a peach and cherry version.

I asked the waitress what the name of the beer that I had was. She said it was Framboise Lambie. It was delicious and I don't like beer.
