Need tips for Gualala, CA - north coast

Will be in Gualala in September for a family reunion. Any suggestions for least expensive lodging? Special activities in the area? What else? Thanx

Least expensive is camping Get that info through Calif State Park web site.
Limited lodging as it is a very small town. The Gualala Hotel is old but O.K.
2 or 3 small motels;. One is adjacent to a small strip mall, has beautiful view but is not cheap!! Sea Ranch is a few miles south-sometimes has homes for rent-often enough room for 8-10-12 people. I am sure they have a web site.
Sept is usually great weather and can be crowded on weekends
Why did you pick Gualala ????

I spent my honeymoon in Gualala...albiet a few years have passed (13), but I hope I never have to go back. Stayed at the Gualala Inn - very nice, old place with VERY expensive restaurant...best part was the hot tub & views. However, the only other place to eat was a biker bar in the little town. Icky. No thank you.

Gualala has really changed, but I would recommend renting a house at The Sea Ranch. This is a beautiful 10 mile long housing devopment with beautiful hiking trails, swimming pools and views. September is the best month. Rams Head reality is good for rentals, but call immediately. They may have a website or find them located in The Sea Ranch, not Gualala.

The Sea Ranch was a heck of a lot prettier before they built clusters of nerdy houses all over the place and wrecked the scenery. You couldn't pay me to stay in that dump, which is nothing but a suburb in all but location--and the location is most certainly no longer noteworthy.
But maybe we'll get lucky, and a kind tsunami will wipe it off the map!
