Need Suite or Jr Suite in NYC -under $250?
 

Does anyone know of a hotel that has a suite or junior suite under $250. per night? Planning a trip for 4 women and concerned about getting a crowded room and small bathroom. Four women getting ready in the morning or for an evening out need lots of room! Was considering the Red Roof Inn, Comfort Inn Manhattan, and the Belvedere, but now wonder if we should get a suite. Can't afford higher than $250. per night for a suite. Was hoping to spend under $200. per night for the other hotels I mentioned. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Marsha, <BR>Check out the Beacon Hotel. They are offering ( online)a 1 BR suite with rates for this summer at 185 per night. I have read great things about the size of the rooms and the hotel itself. Marsha:<BR><BR>Another hotel to try is Hotel Stanford...they're on the web. I stay there a couple times a year on a "women only" trip and we have found it to be a great place as far as location, safety, and the fact that it has a 24/7 restaurant and coffee bar/pastry shop within the hotel.<BR><BR>I'm staying there in June with two other women and we got a jr. suite at $150 per night.<BR><BR>Stanford is located on 32nd Street just off Broadway near Macy's and Manhattan Mall. It's at the opposite end of the block as Red Roof Inn, therefore the street is a little more busy late at night.<BR><BR>Good luck!

Have just completed days and days of hotel searches thru the hotel discounters. 1) Try www.hotelkingdom.com, for the Bentley - Upper East Side, near Sloan Kettering, as of yesterday going for $104.50/room. Or, get two rooms, for $209? At a four star hotel. 2) Try Embassy Suites, down near the World Trade Center, there are specials for weekends on suites, but you might need 2 of them for 4 people? 3) Try the Kimberly Hotel, all suites, recommended by Frommer's as large suite rooms ,and rates would be under your $250/night. <BR>I search thru Expedia.com, and thru Hotel Discounts.com also--www.expedia.com and www.180096hotel.com by both date, 4 or 3 star, and then even by name. And so far in last 2 years have had good luck with the major hotel discounters--the third one, www.hotelkingdom.com based in Florida, but has the Bentley at cheapest possible.

The Avalon has a very nice suite. The bedroom has 2 double beds and there is a pull out sofa in the living room area. An ample continental breakfast is also included. It's located on 32nd St near 5th Avenue.

Rooms at the Bentley can be VERY small, so be aware. Also the hotel is pretty far east, generally requiring a cab. But it is close to Bloomingdale's!!<BR>

Marh:I don't undrstand why you dont consider gettting 2 rms. Then you have 2 bathrooms, and more room for everyone. You can easely get 2 rms for under $200/nt for both rms. You can use a service like Priceline, and where people have been getting rms for about $60- $85/nt.

I also suggest getting two rooms. My daughter and I just returned from a trip to New York and we stayed at The Belvedere Hotel. It is very convenient. Rooms have two double beds, microwave and refrigerator, also extra sink bar area. It is listed under the Empire Hotel group and they have a web site. They had a rate of $139.00 including breakfast. I think four women would do better with two rooms and two baths. Have a great time in New York. The hotel is in an excellent location near the theaters and resturant row. We felt quite safe walking late at night.

I strongly suggest two four star hotel rooms through Priceline, for which you will probably pay no more than $100 per room per night and will be in a lovely hotel!

THe Kimberley Hotel is a nice suite hotel. I've stayed there and recommend it. I believe it was about 190 per night, which I got thru one of the discount websites.

Another Priceline possibliity is to bid on a room in a 4-star hotel in the Financial District. IIRC, according to biddingfortravel, the only one is the Embassy Suites. Check their listings first!

I'd try the Salisbury. Their rack rate is high, but very likely you could do well on one of the discount sites. I've stayed in a suite there in the past; the rooms are huge and the hotel is well-located.

When you bid with priceline, I understand that there is no guarantee that you will get rooms with two double beds. For 4 ladies you will definately need two rooms or a suite with two double beds and that still leaves two people sleeping on a pullout bed in the living area. That is the reason I have avoided priceline when booking hotel rooms. Three ladies and I went to New York and we found we liked having two rooms with two double beds per room. It made dressing in the morning easier and everyone was more comfortable.

I've never encountered an NYC hotel (through Priceline or booking it directly) that didn't give me a choice of a king size bed, two doubles, or two oversized twins. All of those options (with two per room) sound a lot better than two ladies sharing a pullout couch, which is what you'll get in a suite.

Postal, some of the four star hotels in midtown which can be booked through priceline have often only had rooms with one king bed in them available, particularly the Park Hyatt. At biddingfortravel.com, one family details their experience as a family of four having to all sleep on one queen sized bed. Don't expect hotels to have rollaways available either when paying priceline rates. It is best not to expect two beds in a room in Manhattan when booking through priceline, but if you don't mind sharing, it is the cheapest way to go.

You can rent a two bedroom apartment - with full kitchen and front room - ANY location in NYC for under $250 a night!! Hospitality Company owns over 300 apartments all over Manhattan. Go check them out. If you don't mind going without room service and housekeeping go for it! No HIGH hotel taxes - and tons of extras. I'm going back in October for two weeks.
