Need suggestions for trip in August
 

My trip to the Galapagos was cancelled, so I need a quick change of itinerary. Can anyone suggest at least a one week to 10 day trip which would be available for August? We love wandering around cities and exploring the sites, great food/restaurants, and museums or historical sites. I have plenty of miles to go locally from NYC or across country.

How about Chicago or Wash DC? Just based on my last 2 trips.

I haven't been to DC in years and I was also consdiering it as an option. Anyone else have a must do vacation that they suggest?

San Francisco and Wine Country. How about a quick trip to Europe since you're in NYC? Portugal, Spain?

Without knowing where you've been, hard to say where you should visit next.

I second Chicago as it has great museums and restaurants and the weather should be good in August. There should be enough to do to easily keep you busy for a week or ten days. Be sure to rent a car and drive up the North Shore of Lake Michigan.

Iceland - figured that may fit in well w/your travel style based on the afore-mentioned Galapagos.
