Need suggestions--elderly parents and me in AZ

Six nights in AZ--fly in mid-afternoon, renting a car. I will be doing all of the driving. Parents want to see Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, anything else we have time for. Last night will be in Phoenix for early flight out. No hiking, but jeeps, boats, etc. are all good. Can I get to the Sedona area by dinner--where to stay? They hate touristy crowds. Any itinerary suggestions welcome!

Phoenix to Sedona is a couple of hours. Sedona to me is a pretty good definition of "touristy crowd", though. Definitely drive up through Oak Creek Canyon.

What time of year?

Late September.

I took a trip with a sister with a foot in a cast. We did basically your trip and had a great time. It did feel a bit like a drive-by vacation, but we saw a lot even with her mobility problems.

I'll see if I can find the trip report.

Here's my trip report.
We did the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - which I loved. If you or your parents haven't been to the Grand Canyon before, I'd recommend the South Rim.
