Need some help in Chicago
 

Me and my Wife are going to Chicago in 2 weeks. We have been ther before but she was under 21 when we went. We will be without our kids so we are looking to do some fun stuff and eat some good food. We are only 25 yrs old. We will be there for 2 days any suggestions?

Second City is a lot of fun.

Def. take the red line to Wrigleyville. Great restaurants and bars up there. Check out the Gingerman (it's a bar) and eat dinnner at the Raw bar or goose island.

In Chicago, it all depends on the weather!

If it is sunny and mild, you definetly want to take advantage of all the outdoor activites...such as Lincoln Park Zoo which is an incredible free zoo with great views of the city! I would also suggest a Architecture boat tour of the river or lake. Walk up and down Michigan Avenue, walk around the mansions in the Gold coast.

If it is cold and dreary (def. a possiblity!), I would take advantage of some of the world class musuems, for sure the Art Institute and the Aquarium, as well as the Planetarium, Natural History (Sue the T-Rex). All fairly close within the new Soldier Field musuem campus.

Depending what kind of food you like, NoMi is in the Park Hyatt with great views of Mich Ave (request window table), MK with world class pastry chef (request table on balcony for great people watching.). New trendy, but amazing restaurant, Japonais. So many choices! Make reservations in advance for any restaurant(NOW!).

Also, there may be a World series going on! Cubs fever will be incredible! Go Cubs!!!

Skip Wrigleyville. Check out Michigan Ave day or night and Rush St and Division Street at night.

Wrigleyville will give you a more neighborhood experience, so you will see where people live, eat, and drink. Rush and Division has pretty bad bars generally, but good restaurants. Tavern on Rush, Carmine's, and Big Bowl.

The museum with "Sue" is the Field Museum, which is world class. Don't miss it!

Pick up a copy of the Chicago Reader when you get here, it's free at most music/book stores and is loaded with things to do. Also you can check out www.metromix.com or www.877chicago.com.

Unless you want to spend your evening drinking with other tourists, skip the Rush St./Division St. bars and follow Kindra's advice and go to Wrigleyville, esp. if the Cubs should happen to win the next game and get into the World Series.

Good food is everywhere in Chicago, this is a town that knows how to eat and you can find every conceivable type of food here. Perhaps if you could narrow it down to a couple of types, we could give more useful advice.

Second City is a good place to go, Blue Man Group is also popular and there is a Hottix booth (actually several) that sells 1/2 price tickets to most everything. If it's a weekend Second City tickets might be available for the late Friday show but I rarely see them for Sat.
