need some help

Hi there, I work at a major magazine and am having trouble finding people to be featured in a project that I'm working on. Basically, we're trying to find personalities that perfectly match certain trips to be featured next to the trip description (not to go on the trip, but a personality description and picture) who are from New York City.

We need:

-a couple, with or without kids, who have been to and love Ireland, but haven't traveled throughout the country extensively.

-a couple, with kids old enough to appreciate travel but young enough to not feel lame traveling with their parents, who have gone on exotic adventures all over the world -- things like safaris and such -- but have yet to go to the Galapagos Islands.

It's a long shot I know, but you never know. You know?

Hi.....we kind of fit both of those categories, but don't live in NYC! sorry....

My husband & I are going to Dublin in June, first time,

And we have 3 teens who have been with us last June on a Mediterranean Cruise, & just returned this week from a family trip to San Fran. Never been to Galapagos. Both trips were amazing for all of us.

Going to NYC in May - can't wait!
Good luck!

Maybe you should post an email address for people to respond to you. I'll bet you'll get lots of replies that way.

so how we know you're legit?

I hate to be such a cynic, but I simply can't imagine anyone working for a "major magazine" asking blind questions on a website. I love the screen name, though....jfun.

I might add that jfun has also written a couple of posts identifying her/himself as a poor college student.

Patrick Apr 10th, 2005 11:04 AM

maybe if jfun is a poor college student working at a major magazine he/she sweeps the floors which would explain why he/she would need to look here or somewhere similar for ideas or subjects of his troll posts, such as "the most expensive tuna fish sandwich you've bought in New York City".

Nice try, jfun, but no cigar. By the way since it has only been less than two months since you said you were studying at a university in Amsterdam for four months, I guess you're still there? So is this magazine where you sweep floors or whatever in Amsterdam? If so, why do your people need to come from New York? I'm really curious how this all fits together.

Maybe jfun is trying to think outside the box in order to get a promotion?

Notice he/she writes 'we need' instead of 'I need'.

If I move to NYC will your magazine pay for a trip to the Galapagos Islands? I could move in with my parents for a couple of months.

Well, on second thought, maybe not.:-D

Hell, GoTravel, for a free trip to the Galapagos I'll move in with your parents!

GoTravel Apr 10th, 2005 11:34 AM

Well that went over like a lead balloon but I tried.

Called my parents (we're in Pawleys Island this weekend) and jokingly said I was moving home for a couple of months. ha. ha.

Daddy hung up on me. I called back and he asked me if I was trying to ruin his Masters Sunday when Tiger was in the lead and mother had to mix a big pitcher of martinis:-D

I guess my adolescence is still too fresh in their memory!

That and the fact that my Big Daddy GoTravel is a smarta$$.

Patrick, I could call back and ask about you but it isn't looking too promising........

:-D

Maybe someone could introduce jfun333 to the seemingly departed travdis.

Patrick Apr 10th, 2005 01:13 PM

Hmmm on second thought, maybe not considering you father. ((N))

But sounds like your mother and I could get along just fine! ((D))

You can try posting this on mediabistro.com. It's a forum for journalists and in the media and they have a discussion board for developing stories/sources for stories.
