:) Thanks again!

DebitNM, you have helped me out with wonderful suggestions on where to eat, etc. while in Santa Fe. Thank you again!

My husband and I are heading up to Seattle in Sept., and while we have been there and in other WA cities several times, we haven't done so recently. We are also looking for different things to do while we are there. We came across Kitsap Tours which has a marvelous sounding tour of Bainbridge Island. We are taking the all day tour, although there are different tours from which to select. The company got rave reviews on Trip Advisor. The frosting on the cake for the tour is that Groupon has a coupon for 50% off. I had already purchased our tickets off Kitsap Tours website when I discovered the Groupon coupon. When I called them to hopefully get the tickets changed out, the owner, Joan, was ever so pleasant about accommodating us. The ferry ride to Bainbridge Island is not included, but that doesn't cost much. We're really looking forward to the tour as it covers a lot of ground.

We are both foodies as well as you, and we are starting a new list of restaurants for this trip. Gardyloo had some great suggestions. A few new ones to us that we are going to try are Anchoviews & Olive and Tavolata, which were mentioned before, as well as Poppy (No. West cuisine)in Capitol Hill.

I can hardly wait. Are you going to Chihuly Garden and Glass? Looks fabulous! I will look forward to your report upon your return so that I might get some new suggestions for our Sept. trip.

Have Fun!!!

Liked all the suggestions and may check on them. Am flying "Home" for a week 8/9 - 8/19.

Spending 8/9 at the South Lake Union area and take out dinner from SLU or Broadway area as we arrive around 8:00pm

Next morning check out, go to Pike Place Market, which I miss terribly, have breakfast and shop for fruit & veges, DeLaurenti gourmet supplies etc. There is a little nut stand near the "bronze pig" that is really great, and so is the Mt Townsend cheese place near the pig too.

We'll be taking a ferry over to Bainbridge, in Poulsbo stop at a fabulous grocery store Central Market for refrigerated items, fresh seafood etc, and then drive to our VBRO house on the waterfront for a peaceful week of my favorite "home" memories of PNW.

Coming back to Seattle on 8/17 and planning dinner at Elliott's Oyster house, our favorite for wonderful seafood and view.

Sunday 8/19 will go to Ivars Salmon House for Brunch Buffet (our favorite) with great seafood and then sadly to airport at 4 to fly home.

We'll be there the same time, 1Jar - what time should we stop by? :)

We have tickets to Mariner's game on 8/9. I have made dinner reservations at Six Seven for our anniversary, 8/10. Made a reservation for Salty's on Sunday for brunch. We have a 1 day car rental for both Sunday and Monday to head to Mt Ranier on which ever day is clear.

Driving from Seattle to Mt Rainier, is it worth side tracking to Snoqualmie Falls?

1JAR Jul 28th, 2013 08:35 AM

Hi DebitNM,

You are going to have a great trip! Lots of great suggestions from the PNW group!

Snoqualmie Falls is great to go see if you have time. One of my favorite places when I lived in Seattle.

In August there won't be very much water coming over the falls. I'd probably skip the falls and spend more time at Rainier. Visit both Paradise and Sunrise, or maybe go to Crystal Mountain and ride the gondola for one of the best views of Mt Rainier there is.
