Need Recommendations for Kauai VRBO or Cottage
 

We'd like to stay in a cottage or small hotel or motel or condo in Kauai for a five days in April. Very pleased with VRBO and Cyber Rentals in the past after getting recommendations from forum users! Our needs? Studio or 1 bedroom, no fold out sofa bed--need a real bed! Light kitchen facilities. Daily housekeeping not needed. Quiet, pool a plus but not required. Beach on property or nearby. Clean and modern, but ritzy not required! Where have you stayed that you like? Two adults, no kids. Would love a place with a resident dog!!

Over Thanksgiving 2004, we stayed at a lovely B&B that meets most of your requirements. It is Green Acres and is between Kapaa and Princeville in Maui - very close to the lighthouse.

There are three cottages. We stayed in the largest one - only because we needed two beds and it had a queen and two sofa beds. The other cottages have queen beds. The cottages have microwaves and refrigerators. There is a gas grill available outside. There is also a coffee maker and wetbar. There is a jacuzzi but no pool.

The owners have a dog but it is not allowed to mingle with the guests. There are pet cats on the premises but they ignore the guests.

Fantastic beaches are only minutes away (by car).

Breakfast consists of muffins and coffee or tea. The B&B is in an orchard and you are encouraged to pick all the fruit that you want - the lemons, limes, oranges, and other fruits were just delicious.

The B&B is quite modern - yet furnished with some antiques and lots of interesting knickknacks.

The cost per night ranges from $75 for the smaller units to $95 for the larger. Credit cards are accepted.

The owners are incredibly nice but not overly so - they let you have your privacy.

We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Kauai.

I made a mistake in my earlier post when I said the B&B was located between Kapaa and Princeville on Maui. The B&B is most definitely in KAUAI! Sorry about that.

On Poipu we loved Kiahuna Platation. The condo we rented through VRBO was a 2 bedroom but there were tons of smaller ones. You are right on the beach--can't beat the location.

Just returned from 10 days on Kauai last night. We stayed at Whalers Cove but there were some cute cottages on the small, quiet road down to our condo that looked nice - one was called Kauai Cove Cottages, unfortunately I can't remember the others but there were about three different options right there on that street. It is directly across from Koloa Landing and good snorkeling (if it isn't as murky as it was during our often-rainy stay). Maybe others will know the names - they might fit your needs.

I think the cottages are called the Koloa Landing Cottages. I visited a friend who stayed there about 5 years ago. The cottage they rented was a one bedroom, very plainly decorated, nothing posh, but servicable. No pool on site.

Check out the Sealodge units in Princeville. Most are 1-2 bedroom smaller condos that go from $85-$120/night. They are located on a bluff and have fantastic ocean views. We're staying there the last two weeks of April. There are several of these condos listed on VRBO.

CHeck out Anini Beach Cottages. We rented the Lily Pad and liked it alot. We just sent friends who stayed at the Mango Cottage and liked it as well.

it was before the beach part I think. You turned down the road into annini and it was a short distance in on the left. The houses are just what you said you were looking for. They have on open floor plan with double/queen bed, full kitchen, a living room/sitting area, a lanai with weber and a washer dryer.You did have to drive or walk some distance to the polo club. Did you check out their web site? Google Anini Beach Cottages.

We stayed in this very cute 1-bedroom cottage close to Poipu when we went to Kauai. Rates were very reasonable...can't remember exactly how much but definitely under $100. maybe $85 or something like that? We were also going during high season...December.
