Need Recommendation for Quiet, Mid-Range Lodging in Oahu

My parents are going to Hawaii in June to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. (Way to go, mom & dad!) They will be spending some of their time in Oahu, which I have NOT visited. After researching hotel after hotel in the Waikiki area, I have decided that the "main strip" won't work for them, especially given other travelers' reports of constant street & moped noise.

I've read Dusty's posts (thanks!), and checked out several of the recommended lodging sites, but I'm still searching for the perfect place. Can you recommend from personal experience a lodging with clean, quiet rooms, nice (but not top dollar) view, and possibly a mini-fridge and/or microwave? Range of $150 - $250 / night would be ideal. Thanks for your help.

How about The Breakers on BeachWalk? It's a old-school low-rise kind of hotel in that price range.

I had a very good stay in November at Waikiki Sand Villa, which is a budget hotel back by the canal, but clean, safe, and quiet enough (reserve rooms on the highest floors) rooms have undercounter frig, inroom safe, lanais, etc. Not fancy but decent.

ECinSF, I think I've got it ... maybe ... http://www.kaimana.com/index.htm

The New Otani Kaimana Beach is on the quieter end (see picture on link) of Waikiki Beach (Sans Souci Section) ... You can get a Deluxe Ocean View with a view of ocean and Waikiki for a Summer Sale rate of $217/nt. (I think there's a 3-night minimum.) This place is wonderful, no pool, but you don't need one since it's on one of the best sections of Waikiki Beach. Like a big bathtub! You have the lovely Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant, right on the sand, and it's just a 10 min. walk to the center of the action in Waikiki. We loved it! :-)

New Otani is a wonderful suggestion. I didn't realize you could get rooms there in this price range.

Thanks so much for the quick replies and thoughtful suggestions, Suze & elsiemoo. I think I am going to book the New Otani for them. Sounds great!
