Need NO tour suggestions.

Husband and I would like to go on plantation tour and swamp tour. Can anyone recommend a good one? Can be combined together or separate.
Thanks.

Our favorite is the Honey Island Swamp Tour. They are near Slidell, LA. Check their website for discount coupons too.

Haven't done a plantation tour recently. The Laura Plantation had a fire at the main house but still was doing tours of the other buildings.

When are you coming? Bring bug spray just in case.

Will be in NO Labor Day weekend. Forgot to mention that we would also like a cemetery tour. Is it safe to tour Cemetery No.1 on our own during the morning/early afternoon or should we stick with a tour group?

I always tour the cemetary (St. Louis #1) solo. I just go at the same time the tour groups are there! You can park on the street pretty easily in front of the entrance or walk from the Quarter.

Dan,
Is it a far walk from the Quarter?

St Louis No 1 is just on the other side of Rampart from the Quarter. I'd recommend a tour tough, not just for safety, but for the information as well. You will learn a great deal about the history and culture of NO.

We took our two young kids on the Honey Island Swamp Tour just a week ago. We took the afternoon tour and paid more for a ride to the swamp from our hotel. It was very hot and crowded and many of the critters were apparently sleeping. That said, the tour guide was awesome and pointed out various interesting things and we all really enjoyed ourselves. I would guess that a morning tour would be better. In fact, if you didn't have kids and wanted to arrange the night tours, which they do privately, I bet that would be fantastic. Even in our hot and sleepy tour, we saw many birds, including an owl, and too many alligators to count. If you take their shuttle, sit in front. We were in the back with no air reaching us, the toddler howling and us sweating. We didn't use bug spray; in fact only dragonflies seemed to be around. But sunscreen, a hat, binoculars and water were a must.
