jen, there are sooo many places to stay in the Myrtle Beach area. You want a hotel? a condo? Google for realtors in the Myrtle Beach area and you will get some good results.

We stay in North Myrtle Beach which is near Barefoot Landing. The 17 & 19 year olds may prefer staying in the midst of the action in Myrtle Beach itself.

I am replying to this for topping in hopes that GoTravel or Beachdweller will see it and steer you in the right direction.

You can get lots of information here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g...Vacations.html

We stayed at the Sand Castle South a few years back. It's located right on Ocean Boulevard - restaurants, shopping, amusements etc. are nearby. We were happy with our accomodations and found it conveniently located to things. The beach is right outside the pool area (I liked that!) and there are lots of golf courses (the hubby liked that!).

Enjoy Myrtle Beach!

My family has a house in Pawleys Island which is usually where we stay except for concerts at The House of Blues or Bike Week. These are my faves:

Marriott Grande Dunes
Kingston Plantation
Ocean Creek Resort
Beach Cove Resort
Sea Watch Resort

These are in no particular order. Know that Kingston has both a Hilton and an Embassy Suites in addition to about 1000 condos they rent.

I'd go with a condo.

ttt for BeachDweller (Chuck).

You may want to consider Palm Crest Motel. Stayed there twice, once in an oceanfront suite and once poolside. It is a family run motel, no special amenities. It may already be booked for July oceanfront lot of return customers. The hotel I speak of is right next to a water park. There is a Holiday Inn just 2-3 blocks away that has a live band on a deck oceanfront and they may have some oceanfront front rooms also.

Everyone has given you good tips so far.

The Grand Strand has filled in so much that lots of places have restaurants, bars & shopping nearby. But if I had to pick one spot I would classify in the middle of it all, that would be central MB from about 21st Avenue North down to Family Fun Kingdom at about 6th Avenue South. Oceanfront hotels/condos in this area will have addresses numbered from about 2200 North, Ocean Blvd to about 700 South, Ocean Blvd.

The one place that comes to mind is Camelot, on the beach at 21st Avenue North. It was recently renovated, and the 21st Avenue area has a fairly large concentration of bars & restaurants. As for shopping, you'll have to drive from the beach for that no matter where you go, but Broadway at the Beach is on 21st Avenue a few miles inland.
