Need Midwest getaway idea for elderly travelers Pronto!

Any suggestions for elderly travelers wanting a weekend family getaway??
My elderly parents, mid-80's, have asked me to arrange a weekend getaway for them, and are including 3 other younger family members, so 5 total adult travelers.
Departing from Chicago and traveling by car.
Date is to be early August - just a few weeks away! Hot summer weather is a consideration as is need for very limited walking at destination. I think they can manage 2-4 hours by car to their destination. Resort, or beachfront/lakeside with nearby attractions would seem do-able.
Thanks so much for sharing your suggestions and experience!

I haven't done this but it looks like something my mom would enjoy. She's turning 75 and can't walk as far as she used to: http://riverboattwilight.com/Fares.html

She also like Door County.

Shipshewana, Indiana is just a couple of miles away by car. There's quaint shops, Amish buggy rides, family style meals, a couple of museums, a play and there;s usually a gospel show going on if they like that kind of thing.

From a former Illinoisan who moved from Missouri to Boston area...and in his mid 80s.
Wisconsin Dells with boatride
New Salem State Park where Lincoln lived as a young man
Lincoln Library and Museum plus other Springfield sites
Door County WI for arts, crafts
River town of Galena with U. S. Grant home

These come to mind and more can be said about each.

If summer heat is a concern then you will probably be better off sticking close to Lake Michigan. If it's hot/humid they will appreciate the breezes and cooler temps on the lakeshore.

Door County would be great. There are some little tourist towns on the Michigan side as well, they could either drive there or take the ferry across from the Wisconsin side. I have no personal experience with the Michigan destinations so hopefully someone else can give some ideas.

A pleasant memory of our trailer in one of many campgrounds. In this case on the shore of Lake Michigan being in Charles Mears St. Pk. As daylight faded everyone strolled to the shoreline of the lake to watch the
sunsetting. Band concert in nearby town. Another memory of climbing sand dunes.
