Need info on Sells, Az and Reservation

may travel through here. What is the scenery like? The people? Is there anything to do? Is it worth the drive?

I think this place is west of Tucson. A friend of mine went there. Said there wasn't much to it.

Sells is west and a little south of Tucson. The area is semi-arid and desert like. Not much to do but it will give you an idea as to life on a reservation

Thanks xx, for your input. I thought I would be able to get some info on this area. I want to drive through here to the Organ Pipe Memorial, but can't find much info. Thought with all the "travellers" on here I would be able to get some info. I do appreciate your input. Thanks

The proper name is the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Go to http://www.google.com/ and do search. Click on "search the web" and you will be able to go the Park Service site. Click on "rec travel usa and Canada" and you will find posts relating to organ pipe.

Thanks rqf, I know that's the proper name, was just shortening for posting. I have done lots of research, but would like to get someone's opinion after having visited. There are many things about a place, that for many reasons, you will not find written in books. Like, how friendly are the poeple? Are there places to eat? Are there places to overnight? Is there a border guard post at Lukesville, which is in the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument area? Just to name a few of the harder to answer questions. Thanks for the info, though. I really do appreciate it, and the link.

If you haven't done it as yet you will find lots of information at thr Goggle I mentioned in a previous post. Following is one of many posts on Organ Pipe

.usa-canada
Date: 1999/04/10
I agree that Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is a good choice.
However, it is 2 1/2 hours from either Tucson or Phoenix, and unless you
camp (in designated campgrounds) lodging is essentially non-existent at
the Monument.
Also because of El Nino weather last year (and la nina this year) the
normal December rains did not arrive in the desert. This means that our
normal spring wildflower bloom did not happen. And April is a little
too soon for the Saguaro Cactus to bloom. May is the normal cactus
blooming month. (Although we are not seeing the buds on the cactus that
represent the upcoming blooms.)
But you will find dramatic cactus filled scenery everywhere in the
Southwest Desert.

P.S. I did my Master's Thesis on Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument so
I may be a little biased on how great it really is!
