Need info on Lake Superior Ferries
Hello,
Planning a trip around Lake Superior this summer/fall. Are there any car ferries from the west or north shore to the south or east shore? If so, where can I find a schedule and further information. Thanks for your help. |
The only remaining car ferry services on the Great Lakes I'm aware of are only on Lake Michigan from/to WI and MI. Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

A listing of Lake Superior ferries is on this website with links:
http://www.greatlakesadventure.com/LakeSuperior.htm I'm not sure you can get all the way across the lake, however. |
Ontario also has a ferry between Rochester and Toronto, but that doesn't help OP.
|
Not that I've ever heard of, sorry. Lake Superior is notoriously rugged. Edmund Fitzgerald and all. Sounds like a cool trip though! I understand your desire to reduce the driving however.
|
The only ferry service on Lake Superior is to/from Isle Royale, which does not allow cars.
|
There is a car ferry from Bayfield Wi to Madeline Island. To my knowledge there is no ferry going across the Lake in any direction. This is a huge lake. Only ships on it as far as I know.

Hi,
Thanks for the info--I was afraid there weren't any ferries that would work for us. We'll just do the drive around-I imagine it will be worth the drive, especially as we aren't on a real schedule. Thanks again for responding. |
Not a ferry but ...
