need info on Knoxville

What are the best areas of Knoxville. I had heard that the west side is a nice area. Also what are the areas of Maryville and Alcoa.

The west side of Knoxville is very nice and has the best selection of restaurants. The west side is considered the Papermill, West Town and areas on west. Downtown also has some nice places to stay and eat. I'd stay away from the UT area as the hotels are a little run down from lots of use during football season!<BR><BR>There's not a lot to Alcoa. It's primarily a long strip of road on the way to Maryville. Maryville is a nice little college community. <BR><BR>

Moving to Knoxville in August to begin graduate studies at UT. Is there anything more to Knoxville besides the University?

Someone mentioned earlier that the hotels in downtown Knoxville are "tired" due to the heavy traffic during football season. Can someone please recommend a relatively new, upscale hotel?

In the new, up and coming West Knoxville area, look at hotels off the Cedar Bluff Exit of I-40. This area has I swear about 15 new hotels also near WEst Town Mall and plenty of restaurants. These would be just about every chain including Mariott, Hyatt etc. Have not stayed in any of them but I would suggest looking in a guide book or on the internet for West Knoxville hotels. My guess is this about 12 miles from the downtown area on I-40.

Johnny Knoxville is on MTV's "Jackass" and in the new flick "Men in Black II."<BR><BR>I sincerely hope I've helped clear up the confusion that the other people have "suggested" about Knoxville.
