Need Hotel in Waikiki
I'm joining my husband on a business trip and need recommendations on a luxury hotel in Waikiki. We are booked at the Outrigger on the beach but I'm willing to cancel for something better. Thanks, Lisa

The only hotel in Waikiki that I would consider a "luxury" hotel is the Halekulani.
There are some other very nice hotels (Moana Surfrider, Royal Hawaiian, Hilton Hawaiian Village) but I'm not sure they're in the "luxury" category. |
That is a very good hotel right in the heart of Waikiki.
It is right on the beach and also right on Kalakaua Ave. Dukes is located in the hotel. Lots to do on Oahu: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34696831 |
Thanks for your input. I checked into the Halekulani. It looks like the type of resort I would be happy with but is only available two of the nights we are staying. How about the Mandarin Oriental? Is that in Waikiki? or near the W Hotel? Lisa

The Mandarin Oriental is about a 10 minute *drive* from Waikiki in an area called Kahala. The W is about a 15 minute *walk* from Waikiki.

Merry Travel,
Could you please tell me how far the W Hotel is from the Mandarin. Most of our party is staying at the W but it is booked. Thanks for your help, Lisa |
Here is a map that shows where the Kahala Mandarin is. It is about 2 miles from Diamond Head.
The "W" is right below Diamond Head about where the stop sign is on the map. http://www.driveguidemagazines.com/o...i_makapuu.html This map shows most of the major Waikiki hotels. http://www.driveguidemagazines.com/oahu_waikiki.html The "W is not on the map but it would be on the lower right corner of the map by the Colony Surf and New Otani Kaimana. |
Dusty, you have been most helpful. Thank you, Lisa
