Need hotel in Chicago in Oct...Help!

Will be in Chaicago (downtown) for one night, Oct. 16, after the big game. The Best Western says they're booked, and the Motel 6 says they're booked. I'll be alone and don't want to spend a fortune (under $100 if possible.) Can anyone advise. Hotrooms has a hotel called Northbrook Radisson at a incredible $59. I don't know where this is located or if its a dump. Don't need the glamor just clean, comfortable and close to best western area (Ohio & North Michigan) or subway close at least.

I dount that it's a dump....just not near ANYTHING!! You will not even be near convenient transportation to get near anything...Northbrook is a (fairly) far ( in typical traffic) suburb of Chicago. Either you have to spend the money to get closer to downtown....or don't bother...

One thing you might want to do is get Chicago accomodations guide from their tourism offices and use one of those reservations services. We used 1-800-96hotel and got a room at the Hilton in chicago on the 4 of July weekend for $ 125. You might get a better deal in October
Try looking up 180096hotel.com, they usually offer great rates even at sold out places. Good luck.

Northbrook is a northern suburb, about 20-25 miles away from downtown Chicago.

Try the Day's Inn in that area. It's pretty tacky, but the VIEWS!!! And for some reason that eludes me I think I remember that the lake view rooms are slightly cheaper.
You might want to take a look at the website for the "Neighborhood Inns of Chicago," - www.cityinns.com.

They are all on the Near North Side -- Close to downtown. City Suites is half-block from subway station. Rates are reasonable and all are in good neighborhoods.

try this site http://www.justpassingthrough.com They have apts at really reasonable prices - for less than hotel rooms. Book in advance cause they fill up fast too.

Sometimes things are booked up because there's a big convention in town. Be advised, hotrooms doesn't deal with all the hotels. You might also try Chicago Hotel Reservations (phone: 888-8HOTELS or wwww.hotels.com). They're local and they have some really low rates for very good hotels, all in good locations.
(Plus they're friendly!)

-dana
