NEED HOTEL/CONDO ON BEACH WAIKIKI APR2001, FAMILY,

WE ARE A FAMILY OF 4 TRAVELLING TO WAIKIKI IN APRIL 2001, KIDS AGE 10 AND 14. WE WANT TO BE ON THE BEACH. (4 NIGHTS) ANTICIPATE SIGHTSEEING ALOT AND DOING TOURISTY THINGS. THEN HEADING TO KANNAPALI BEACH FOR 7 DAYS, BEACH LAZINESS ANTICIPATED THERE. NEED SUGGESTIONS ESPECIALLY FOR WAIKIKI. HAVE BEEN TO MAUI ALTHOUGH IT WAS 1O YRS AGO.
ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED.
P.S. INTERESTING THAT THERE ARE NOT MORE POSTINGS ABOUT HAWAII. I USED ALOT OF INFORMATION FROM POSTINGS WHEN PLANNING OUR RECENT CARRIBEAN TRIP. MORE INFO ABOUT THE CARRIBEAN THAN HAWAII.

Molly,

My 2 choices for beachfront hotels would be either the Hilton Hawaiian Village for it's gorgeous grounds and children's programs. They have a sightseeing desk and can arrange things for you. My other choice would be the Sheraton Waikiki for it's central location and beachfront restaurant. The Hilton is in a less crowded location. Depends what you want.

Hi Molly,
We just returned from four days on Waikiki at the Hilton Hawaiian Village -great hotel, excellent location - I think it's the best part of the beach. Your kids will love it! By the way, there was tons of info. on Hawaii but as the forum format has just been changed I think alot of the postings are in cyberspace now. I know one of my recent postings has vanished. Keep plugging away - you should get lots of responses.

I'm sure your excited Molly but there is no need to shout. (Using caps only is considered shouting).

Consider the Colony Surf Condominiums http://colonysurf.com/
Seems like a relatively good value for what you get and it is a little removed from the main hustle and bustle.

Also, the Renaissance Ilikai http://www.ilikaihotel.com/ - moderate
There are also agencies that rent condo. units in the Ilikai for less.

Not directly on the beach but very close, on the yacht harbor and you can get an ocean view

Actually, I just realized that the Colony Surf is a little steep. You will probably get bet better rates at the Outrigger Waikiki Shore: http://outrigger.com.
