Need Honeymoon Room Ideas in Sante Fe

Hi, I am planning a honeymoon to Sante Fe, NM starting the 29th of December. I am looking for the most romantic room in or around Sante Fe. I want a room with intimacy that we don't feel like we have to leave if we don't want to. Any suggestions?

Inn on the Alameda is a beautiful hotel near the thick of things in Santa Fe. I stayed there this summer and had a beautiful suite with a king bed, huge tiled bathroom and private patio. I could have stayed there for days without leaving ....except for food! They also have a wonderful breakfast buffet and happy hour each afternoon. Seriously, the rooms are beautifully appointed, luxurious, and the staff is very friendly. I don't know if it is the most romantic--I haven't stayed in that many hotels there, but I'm sure it would be right there at the top and you would be quite happy.

The Bishop's Inn is very ,very romantic. The rooms have the beautiful pine beds and fireplaces.

I, too, liked the Inn on the Alameda very much. We had a lovely patio, and a (gas) fireplace in the room. The breakfast is very, very generous and varied, offering actual freshly cooked food, can you imagine?! However: I didn't exactly find it super-romantic, but very comfy and cozy. Guess it depends on one's definition of romance, eh? (BTW, for a romantic dinner, consider Daniel's, which is Italian.)

Another vote for Inn on the Alameda---you won't have to leave, but if you choose to you'll be right in the middle of the nice area of Santa Fe. Bishops Lodge is also great but very pricey.

If I am wanting to stay 4 or 5 nights would you stay at two different places?

I don't know about your fiance, but I'd get a little ticked off if my husband wanted me to pack up and move during my honeymoon, assuming we were moving somewhere else just a few blocks away. Staying in one place for a few days makes a trip a lot more relaxing. You will have been rushing around a lot before the wedding, and will appreciate the down-time.

The Bishop's Lodge is great. They have a wonderful pool and horseback riding facilities. They are outside of town and you have to drive to get into a town, which can be a drawback. But it will be quiet out there. You in the middle of some nice terrain.
In town, I'd choose Inn of the Anasazi. Great place. Wonderful restaurant. Attentive staff. Very high class place. Superb location.
Have fun.

Thanks for all the advice!
The reason for the possible change of hotel during the stay is the there are so many good looking choices. I thought about staying a few day outside the action and finding the absolute best room with a view so we wouldn't necessarily have to leave. I was thinking Bishop's Lodge or Rancho De San Juan for this. Any other suggestions? Then, moving to the Plaza for the remainder of the stay. Inn of the Anasazi or La Posada or Inn of the Almeda? Still a bad idea?

I'm not sure if it warrants moving. I could see if you were going, for instance, to Costa Rica, and you wanted to stay a few nights at the beach and then a few nights in the mountains. But Santa Fe is Santa Fe. The views no matter where you are are simply gorgeous.
Yes, at the Bishop's Lodge you will literally be smack dab IN the views, but let me also add this: SNOW. In late December you're liable to run into some. And the road out to the Bishop's Lodge is twisty and hilly. I've been there a few times around Christmas and it's not possible to get down that road until it's cleared. [just a thought] And frankly, now that I've thought of it, I find the Inn of the Anasazi to be more romantic. But that's me.
Have fun.

We return to the La Posada de Santa Fe every year for my birthday in October...This property has nice rooms, but really nice suites complete with Kiva fireplaces. The food on the property is great, the spa is really nice and we like the understated nature of the grounds...it's a very Zen place with a santa fe twist...Location is great b/c it's just far enough from the shopping to be quiet, but close enough to the restaurants to remain convenient. I'd check this one out..

Thanks everyone for all the great advice and please keep going. I'm still struggling with what to do. I like Anasazi and LaPosada for a few days, but I would like to also find a less expensive place to stay to extend the trip a few days. That may sound cheap, but our idea is to save a little so we can go to Tahiti in the Spring.

I too would like any info on either of the Rancho's in Santa Fe (Rancho Encantado or Rancho de San Juan, or even info on staying at 10,000 waves. Thanks

Another vote for the Inn of the Anasazi. It is a beautiful, full-service hotel with a nice restaurant, concierge, etc. The rooms are lovely and many also have fireplaces.

I, for one, would also discourage you from moving during the honeymoon. It isn't relaxing and Santa Fe simply isn't big enough to warrant it. If cost is an issue, pick one hotel you can afford for the duration and splurge on a fancy dinner or spa treatments at 10,000 waves.

What is a good recommendation for outside town - intimate, romantic?
