Need helping hands for Transportation among Orlando and Miami

I will visit Florida on early April with my wife. After a tour to Disney in Orlando, I will have a visit at Lake Sebring and plan to travel to Miami, is anyone could sugguest the transportation way, since one of my friend in HK told me that driving a car to Miami is dangerous of road robbery, especially after 5:00 pm around the downtown, is that true or any sugguestion. Thanks in advance.

Miami is not as dangerous as it once was but wandering around the middle of any big city is not a good idea. What are you planning on doing? You need to have a good map and know where you are going. There are beautiful cities all down the coast of Florida. Why Miami? May I suggest Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Vero Beach, Daytona Beach.

Florida is a very large state with almost no public transportation, so you're going to need a car while in Florida, regardless. Sebring is approximately 100 miles south of Orlando and Disney World, and is, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere. You'll probably use U.S. 27 to get from Orlando to Sebring; it is a very pretty drive with lots of orange
groves and cattle. Reports of Miami's danger are vastly overblown. Several years ago, there were a spate of robberies of people who had rented cars at the Miami airport, but who then got lost trying to get out of the rental car facilities and onto area expressways. While that problem has been
solved, it doesn't affect you, as you'll be driving into the city, probably using the Florida Turnpike. It is about 150 miles from Sebring to Miami and takes just under three hours. A car in Miami is absolutely essential. There are many beautiful areas of the city that you will likely want to see, but they are scattered across a fifty-mile-long region. Driving after dark is neither dangerous nor difficult. If I can answer any specific questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I was born and raised in Florida. While I haven't lived there in a number of years, I still visit regularly and am reasonably current on things to see and do.

Thanks for your advice and finally I get relief from my worries, and I think I will rent a car for my trip.
