Need help with trip planned to NYC on 12/15
 

Will be seeing the 10.00 a.m. Radio City Music Hall show. Other "must dos" are Rockerfeller Center to see the tree, ice rink at Central Park, Dylan's Candy Bar, the Apple store and some store windows.
Can anybody suggest an itinerary to do these? Also, any kid friendly restaurants in Little Italy? Is this too much/too little for a full day - we'd probably want to head home by no later than 9.00 p.m.

Well -I would bag Little Italy. Most of the restaurants are mediocre at best and it;s nowhere near any of the other things you want to see/do.

For a kid friendly restaurant in the are you're in I woud do Ellen's Stardust diner - which has OK diner food but singing waitstaff that most kids enjoy.

Assuming you want an early lunch I would do that after the show, head up to Central Park to see the Wollman rink and then head acorss to the east side to see Candy Store and Bloomies. From there head back to Fifth Avenue and south. That will take you into the Mac store and past all the Fifth Avenue store windows, St Pat's, Rock Center tree and skating, Top of the Rock and as far south as Lord & Taylor.

You should be done with that way before 9pm.

Pizza is child friendly, and Lombardi's is at the north end of Little Italy on Spring Street.

Best pizza in New York, and the oldest pizzaria in the city.

Arturo's on Houston (@Thompson) also has great pizza, and they have live music during dinner. They also have other pasta dishes and salads. Great family restaurant...

Couple of other items to add. Is the Christmas market at Grand Central worth a visit? Also, forgot to add that we'll need to visit the Toys R Us in Times Square, so would appreciate input in to how to best to fit both of those in to our itinerary. Thanks for your help!

The Christmas market at Bryant Park (6th Ave/42nd St.) is closer to the Toys-r-Us. It is also better, in my opinion. There is a free ice skating rink in the park. There is also a carousel in the park, but I don't know if it is open in winter.

The crowds on Saturday 12/16 will be INSANE, with long lines everywhere, including Toys R Us. Plan to start EARLY or not on Saturday.

Yesterday was ridiculous .. people could barely move on 5th Ave and Times Square ... children were miserable as well as adults ...

Hi Gekko - 12/15 is a FRIDAY! I agree that I wouldn't even attempt this on a Saturday at this time of year. Maybe we'll check out Bryant Park. Thanks for the suggestion.
