Need help with Savannah lodging
 

My husband and I will be making our first trip to Savannah this October. We will be staying just two nights and I would like it to be special. We need know the best location for walking to sites and dining - for a max. of about 250.00 per night. My husband cannot do too much extended walking - so I really want to choose a good local. Looking at the Ballastone, Marshall Hotel and Hamiltion Turner Inn. Any suggestions on these or others? Thanks for the help.

Very Nice hotel, with an elevator that takes you right down to the Riverwalk is they Hyatt. They have River views that are beautiful. Across the street is all the squares and some other hotels. We are not B&B people, but if you are looking for something like that there are plenty, they would be a farther walk to the riverwalk with the shops and restuarants. Huey's on the river has a wonderful breakfast!

You might look at the Westin. We couldn't get reservations for our recent stay but went over to check it out for the future. Beautiful. We went around by the pool (this was in the evening) and the had a big projection screen and movie playing. Nice furniture to just sit and relax and watch the sights on the waterfront. It's across the river from the Historic area. There is a Ferry that crosses every 20 minutes and it's free.
We stayed at the Old Harbor Inn on Factors Walk. They have "Specials" on their web-site. Everything was perfect. Our room was like a condo. The staff couldn't be more helpful and one person that really made your stay was "Dominique". He certainly made sure you were happy. Every night they had Wine and Cheese, crackers cookies etc. for happy hour for the guests and a nice breakfast. At night they put a Klondike Bar in the freezer. We met another couple in the lobby one evening and we all were talking about our dinner plans, they told us about an Italian restaurant called Corleons (spelling might not be correct) they came to the Harbor Inn with a Limo and took us to their restaurant and brought us back in the limo (limo was FREE) food was great as well. Had a nice time in Savannah...

Love the Ballastone - lovely inn in a great location.

Have you already got your dates booked? If you have flexibility try a weekday stay. You can live like a king on $250 a night during the week.

Holiday Inn Express Historic District. Know it sounds tacky but it's in a restored bdlg across the st from the Riverwalk, is absolutely lovely and lots cheaper than $250. Ask for a corner room on an upper floor - big with gorgeous views.
