Need HELP with San Francisco hotel

I will be in San Francisco in June combining a business/vacation trip and am looking for deluxe accommodations at reasonable price (below $200). My business will be in Financial District, however, not necessary to stay there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We are traveling to SF in a few weeks. I've been spending too much time on a great website. http://sanfransisco.citysearch.com
It has nice links for hotels, restaurants...and lots more! Hope that will help a little.

You will have no problem getting very nice accomodations for < $200.00 /nt.

No hesitation in recommending the Capmton Place Hotel, off Union Square. It may be a little over your price bracket, but we loved it. Great staff, gorgeous rooms, thoroughly classy. We felt pampered, and very very comfortable. It probably made our holiday.

Hi Julie-
My husband and I recently spent two nights in San Fran and stayed at an Inn call Petite Auberge. It was centrally located, only a short walk to the cable car that would take you to the financial district. It was so nice - quiet but yet homey. I don't recall the price exactly, but think it was around $200. They serve tea and other refreshments in the afternoon, and a lovely breakfast was included in our rate. It's not a huge hotel - definitely the feeling of a country inn, but in the middle of the city!! Hope this helps!!

Friends from Europe gave us good reports about The Beresford Hotel, not far from Union Square.

My husband and I went to San Francisco a few years back and stayed at the Howard Johnson's at Fisherman's Wharf. The rooms were nice, the location was GREAT. There is just one cafe in the hotel, and that's just open for breakfast and lunch (I think), but there are plenty of great places to eat down at the Wharf. After walking through the downtown district, we decided we would never stay there, and would definitely consider going back to HJ when we return.

The Galleria Park Hotel is in the Financial district and is definitely within your price range. It's a recently remodeled older hotel and the lobby has a lot of charm. It has character, unlike a newer hotel chain. And the staff is friendly!

Julie, As an ex-travel consultant, my hobby is touring hotels wherever we travel. On a recent SFO trip I really liked what I saw at Crown Plaza, 48 Sutter St. 415-398-8900. Request a room on floor 25 or above for an ocean view. The other interesting place was Hotel Rex @ 562 Sutter St. 415-433-4434. This is an older hotel that has been revamped into trendy accomodations. The staff is young and accommodating. Both are easy walks to Financial District. My previous favorite hotel in FD was Hotel Triton. Its trendy, but has fallen into disrepair lately. However, still takes itself way to seriously (i.e. charges too much for what it offers). If you and companions (need 5) are looking for a unique dining experience, check out the Chef's Table at One Market Restaurant. Its wonderful. Hope this helps. TC
