need help with resonably priced accomidations in Waikiki

We're looking to spend around $150 per night, we'd love to be near Waikiki beach and of course want the best bang for the buck. We're open to hotels and condos. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. It is centrally located behind the pink Royal Hawaiian hotel, and has views of the ocean above the 7th floor. Easy to get to the beach across the street. Check out their breakfast packages for $145 a night.

My favorite hotel in Waikiki is the Hawaiiana Hotel on Beach Walk - it is an older, low rise property and is wonderful. No - you won't get a concierge, or room service, or a huge lobby brimfull with guests, tours, restaurants and activities. But what you will get is a little slice of heaven nestled right in the middle of Waikiki. When you walk through the open air lobby to your room you will feel like you're REALLY in Hawaii - plumeria trees, ti trees, flowers galore, all over the place, and even some grassy areas. At night the tiki torches are lit, in the morning there's free tropical juice and Kona coffee served poolside. The staff is full of the aloha spirit and very helpful. The rooms are outdated, but clean and efficient, and the kitchenettes save you a bunch of money. The rates are lower than you'd expect with the beach just at the end of the block and Kalakaua only steps outside the gate. The Bus runs right outside the back gate so it's really convenient to everything. I don't stay anywhere else and now the Hawaiiana has become home base whenever our family goes to Honolulu - even my stepsisters and their families stay there when they come to Oahu from where they live in Maui; my parents stay there when they go there from California. Check them out on their website - http://www.geocities.com/hawaiianahotel.

I love the Hawaiiana Hotel!

It's on Beach Walk near Fort deRussy park. It's not a fancy place, more homey, but has gorgeous gardens and two pools. Excellent location. Kind of looks like a 60's apartment complex. All rooms have kitchenettes, 1/2 fresh pineapple when you arrive, free Kona coffee and juice poolside each morning, BBQ grill set ups available for $4 per use, torches light the paths at night, friendly helpful front desk staff.

This is not a hotel to everyone's taste, but if you're looking for something *not* a highrise, check out the website and see what you think. There are numerous reviews on tripadvisor, including a glowing one i recently posted.

I've stayed here twice. Last month took time and went hotel "shopping" all over Waikiki, visited a dozen+ places. Nothing beat this for Hawaiian atmosphere and location.

We stayed in the Ocean Resort Hotel and we were happy with it. We had an ocean view room.

Suze - I'm glad you like "my" little hotel ... I can't wait to get back - I keep sending everyone else and just can't seem to get back. Next year FOR SURE!
