Need help with New Mexico weekend; two ladies of a certain age.
 

Going to go to NM soon and plan to spend a night or two with a neice. can you help me think of things we could do, drive to, and may want to come back to \sometime. There must be tons of fun things to do/places to go, I just can't think of any at this moment. (Santa Fe area)

$70 for us last betterbidding.com. We went to an artist show shopped hiked in Taos and Bandelier ate some awesome food we enjoyed especially the Blue Corn NM food at The Shed when there bout a year back.

If you can't get all the way to Taos - you might try to go part way at stop at Chuyamo - where my mother appreciated us bringing her some of the "holy dirt". :)

Bandelier NM is very interesting even if you don't hike much. Tent rocks if you do hike. Lots of museums and good food in Santa Fe.

You used to live here, right? Some things about Santa Fe just don't change much - museums, shopping, etc.

The NM History Museum has expanded and has some nice exhibits. There are the museums up at Museum Hill, though I haven't visited them in a few years. There is the Art Museum downtown, and the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum a few blocks away.

Shidoni Foundry in Tesuque is pretty neat - they do bronze sculpture pours on Saturdays.

You asked on a different thread about our weather in April. You can get anything - sun, wind, snow - in April, so bring layers.

LeAnn. When I lived there, it was in Los Alamos, and we came to SF often. I remember the Georgia Okeefee museum, don't remember the city museum, etc., but it was a totally different place, plaza was quiet and there was a Kress (I think) where I often bought kids underwear, a few nice dress shops and lots of sleepy people relaxing in the square . The cathedral was spectacular, back streets sort of dust and not much if you walked six blocks in any direction ..One of my babies, who never grew up, is buried in the Santa Fe cemetary, and they took such poor care of the cemetary that over the years, we can't even find his grave, which tears me in a big wAY. Still I take flowers there when I am in town and remember him for the bright spirit he might have been.

We ate at the Shed, renowned, even then, for it's blue corn tortillas. Don't remember that there was a Tomasitas, but we did eat there last year when we were in town and I don't remember being overwhelmed...maybe just a bad choice on the menu.

Anyway, we will be there soon.

There is a really good exhibit at the NM History Museum - the Saint John's illuminated Bible combined with photographs of contemplative places in New Mexico.
