Vivid01,

We do have a Capitol tour arranged through my congressman. Someone mentioned being able to take a tour of the dome... I think we'll ask about that when we get there.

Based on the posts, I think we are going to skip the Moonlight Trolley Tour and do the DC by Foot instead. We're going to eat a late lunch before the Washington monument and then have dinner at Old Ebbit Grill after the tour is over... I'll have snacks in my bag to help with any hunger pains in between.

Gotta agree with SharonG above on the FDR: <<The FDR Memorial is stunning and I saw children there having a great time. It is now my favorite site in D.C. >>

My 14 y.o. son and I were both extremely impressed with this "complex" and all the kids there were having a great time. We walked from there on around to the Jefferson Memorial which was another of his favorites.

He also loved the BEP - didn't think it was boring at all, in fact, quite the opposite. On the other hand, I thought he would be blown away by Air & Space, but he wasn't. He did love doing the flight simulator though. He loved the National Archives and told me he was so glad we went even though we didn't schedule in advance and had to wait in line.

Have fun!

By the way -- especially if you come from a non-subway city (and maybe even if you do have one!), don't be surprised if your 7-year old finds riding our Metro to be one of her most memorable experiences in DC! Every day I see excited happy out-of-town kids on board.

She has not ridden on a subway before. It was an interesting concept explaining to her that people travel on trains underground.

Please stand on the right on Metro escalators and leave the left side clear for walking up/down.
Thank you.
