Need help with itinerary on Kenai peninsula

Hi all - I have the majority of a trip to Alaska planned but am having a little trouble planning our days on the Kenai peninsula. We will be driving down from Anchorage, spending about four days there before heading back up through Anchorage to Denali. We thought we'd spend the majority of the time in Seward but then a friend told me that Homer is not to be missed. My questions...

Is it possible to cover both Seward and Homer in four days without rushing and/or spending far too much time in the car?

Is there a good central location between Seward and Homer to stay and then make day trips to both? And if so, is a day or two enough in both locations?

Ideally, I'd love to see both but definitely want to make the best use of our time. We are interested in visiting the Fjords National Park (and possibly taking a day cruise), possibly doing a fishing charter, light hikes but generally just seeing the beauty of the area.

Thank you!

What month?

Split the time between the two.

The Kenai/Soldotna area is about midway between Seward and Homer but I think about 1 1/2 hours to each so you would really be spending too much time driving. I agree to split time between both since I think Seward and Homer have two different personalities. I preferred the cruise to see glaciers out of Seward. We did an overnight package to a town across the bay from Homer with nature cruise over and small sightseeing plane back. If we did it again I would just do a flightseeing trip from Homer. Pratt Museum is outstanding. Just seeing the Homer spit from the overlook as you approach town is amazing.

ps we were using Kenai as a home base for our trip that year but did the overnight from Homer and also did an overnight in Seward the night before our boat trip. One night in each place really isn't enough time so would be good if you can do two nights.

Agree. Spend 2 nights in each. Soldotna or in between places are not close enough and not as beautiful as Seward or Homer.

Thank you for all the advice - very helpful! We will be there in June.

"about 4 days"

Is this 3 nights or is this 4 nights? Are you staying 2 full complete days in each community or are you including getting there and leaving too?

For me if it's 3 nights/4 days it would definitely be a rush; there's too much to do in both towns. Even though I like Homer better, I'd pick Seward because of the lessened driving) If it's 4 nights; I think it's rushing it to see both (especially if that's including driving time to/from/between them), but you could still see a nice portion of each.
