Need help with Florida beach cities

My wife wants to take her parents - 95 and 81 - for a long weekend to Florida later this month. While not active beach people, we would like to go to a place by the beach. Any suggestions?

Topping for Huntley.

It is high season so rates will be high regardless of location in FL. I would recommend Siesta Key as there is plenty of restaurants there and a great beach.

What are there interests? If we know, we can make better recommendations.

West Coast is so peaceful and beautiful, Sanibel is my favorite. Although not much to do, beaches are very relaxing. Good outdoor restaurants. What activities do they like? Golf? Sunbathing? Antiques? More info on their lifestyle would help us point you in the right direction.

Florida probably has 1,000+ miles of beaches. Can you narrow down your interests somewhat?

How about something like this: http://www.vrbo.com/111714
This is Sanibel Island which is beautiful. I've never stayed in this particular unit but think for the age of your parents, they would truly enjoy a screened in porch that they could sit on and watch the ocean and smell the breeze. To find one on the ground floor and close to the beach where they could just walk out and visit the ocean up close and personal would be a real plus. VRBO.com is a great website to find these kinds of places in all kinds of beach locations. I would stay on the gulf side of Florida.
