Need Help w/Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale

I just got a AAA Card and it offers a great discount at the Sherton Yankee Clipper in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I tried Trip Advisor and got mixed results. Has anyone stayed there?

Please help. thank you.

I grew up in Ft. Laud. area. It is a nice hotel and a landmark in the area. It has a great location too. If the deal seems good, I would grab it.

Hi there, stayed here last Feb. I thought it was a mediocre hotel but in a good location. Rooms were nothing great, ask for a view if you can get it, our view was terrible.

can get a great deal, so I might go for it. I love looking at the ocean but will not go in it. Give me a pool anyday.

Thanks for your help.

depends on how great the deal is I guess, it was an OK time, travelzoo and others have been showing deals, but if it is like $79 or $99 go for it for sure!!

also, the location was very good, we walked to everything there including the Water Taxi station, which was a fabulous time, you have to do the Water Taxi in Ft. Lauderdale.

LOVED IT! Ask to be upgraded to the tower that is closet to the ocean. Rooms themselves were fine, but the location was the best. Have a beer at Bahia Cabana across the street and catch the water taxi.

Carp - I don't drink beer but what if I have a screwdriver for you? LOL Maybe two!

Thanks for your help all

The rate I got was for $119.00 but that is the AAA rate and can be cancelled. I don't like the internet rates that you can not cancel.

Do you think it is worth that. I have always been happy with Sheraton.

I would say yes, but ask to be put in a room with a view, our window looked at an outside wall, our room was not very nice but it was fine to sleep in, not dirty or anything, just mediocre, and how much are you really in your room. The location and the beach was great, right on the water if you are in the tower. The pool is just OK. And walking to restaurants, water taxi etc. is great. I think it costs to park there at the hotel so check what the daily parking rate is if you book. Concierge was very nice. There is also a trolley I think. Any more questions just ask.

mc, my son lives in Tamarac and the reason we are not staying with him is because he is having a new baby and wen we go down it will be 4 of us. He doesn't stay in hotels and all guests used to stay at his house. So we will be spending most of our time there.

What I want is a hotel that is clean, inexpensive and I can see the sun come up over the ocean. I am paying for the whole trip and we are going to Orlando first so I have to watch my budget.

If you know any other places big enough for grandma, mommy and 2 boys that is on the ocean and is under $125.00 per night, let me know.

Thanks for your help will keep the above in mind.

Hi again..for how many nights and when are you going?? Does the $119/night say what view/room you will get?? I think it is a pretty good price, the hotel is clean for sure and on the beach, although we did NOT have a beachfront room at all. Have you ever tried Priceline?? It may be an option if you are trying to watch your budget as you may get a very nice hotel on the beach for a small amount of money depending on when you are going to travel. But you will be fine at this Sheraton, the boys will enjoy the pool also. It is clean, beach was clean when I was there, just see if you can upgrade your room to oceanview if available and ask what the extra parking/and or facility charges are.

thanks mcmc.... will keep all that in mind too. My son has a pool so that is no big deal. I want clean, inexpensive, with the sun over the Atlantic.

By the way my initials and my sons are both mc, lol

Well, we have it down to the Sheraton Yankee Clipper,Sheraton Yankee Trader or the Best Western Oceanside Inn, or maybe a combo of 2 of them. My son said he would ride past all of them on his next day off.

I think we are all set with our Orlando Plans as we stayed there last year (one of the Universal hotels). We get free tickets to the parks so it works out eve.

Thanks for all your help

Great!! Have only stayed at the one Sheraton Yankee there so cannot comment on the others but once he sees them all he will know for sure. Have a wonderful time!!!! We love Universal.

granniem Feb 28th, 2007 11:08 AM

It will be hard not having a great time, going to Universal with head of the line passes w/my grandsons and daughter. Going to meet my new first grand daughter, and seeing my son and daughter-in-law. Will let you know in July how we made out.

Thanks again for all of your help.
