Need Help w. Priceline
I have used other travel sites for booking flights and hotel packages....but for my next trip I am considering using priceline because I can get a 5 night trip for less than the price of a 4 night trip!
the only caveat is that I don't know when the flight will depart or arrive....or what the connection times will be. is there a good site that will show me an average of what flights priceline may use? i tried bidding for travel, but didn't find specifics on the flight portion of the trip. |
I don't think what your wanting exists. I've quit using Priceline bidding for air travel. One time I booked a flight for someone else going from Kansas City to Phoenix. They got there eventually via Memphis.
The only way to use Priceline bidding is if you have more time than money. |
I tink most people use priceline for hotels. We've also done some car rentals, but flying, unless you have all the time in the world and a flexible schedule, it's not worth the savings.
Book the flights elsewehere, and then consider priceline for hotels. |
The issue is that I am not bidding on the flight....the flight is included in the package and so far, the package is about 75-100 bucks less than most other sites.
The thing that I am worried about is if the flight will be overnight...though when tinkering with the days, I noticed that if my flight was arriving the next day, there was a red warning and my nights in a hotel were reduced. so far, when i check the price stated, it appears that I will be arriving on the same day as my departure i am going to think about it and then make my decision...I just don't like not being able to choose my own flight. :( |
Oh, I understand, you're buying one of their packages. I've never had any experience with them.
|
I don't know about their packages, but their published hotel rates are nothing special. I'm guessing this package is their price not a 'name your own price' kind of thing.
Did you check expedia packages, there's are usually a liitle lower than purchases and air and land separately. |
Did you check Hotwire's packages?
I compared packages from www.Priceline.com, www.Hotwire.com, www.USAirwaysVacations.com, and www.DeltaVacations.com and found the US Airways site ended up with the best price. |
I tried those sites, and hotwire is similar to priceline in that I can't determine when my flight will be if I get the lowest priced package.
:( I wish I could get a mobile alert when prices drop...I have a few hotels I am content with staying at and I just need to figure out my airfare. |
I believe priceline tells you if it's a red eye (overnight) flight.
have you checked hotwire.com? they'd give you a little more info and still a lower price. |
When I checked different dates and even airport possibilities, hotwire is still a bit more money than priceline and doesn't offer the hotels I am interested in.
I am just going to be patient and see if things change... |
I don't know where you are flying from, but here from Chicago anyway- it just isn't worth it to do Priceline pkgs. Just for the reason stated by another- the times can be horrendous which really cuts into your "days" there. They may count a day when you fly at 3:15 am (as if that were a "day" of your vacation).
From here, Apple and other combo vacations sites can always beat it with regular flight or charter flight times. |
