Need help w/Capitol Reef Natl Park lodging choices...
Am having trouble deciding where to make a reservation in the Capitol Reef area...does anyone have personal experience with/opinion on the following choices, listed from lowest to highest cost.
Capitol Reef Inn & Cafe - town center Wonderland Inn - pool Days Inn - pool Austin's Chuckwagon Motel - town ctr & pool Best Western Capitol Reef - pool Are there advantages to being in town center? to having a pool? The cost ranges from $48 to $79. Any insights that would help me decide? |
Hi Travsolo,
Usually I camp, but when it was snowing last April, I stayed at the Chuckwagon Inn. Basic, typical motel. Nothing fancy, but clean and helpful people. The town of Torrey is so small there is no reason to worry about being "in town" or not. There's basically no difference! There is a very nice B&B called the Skyline Ridge in case you are interested. More $$. They have a web site. Have fun! |
Thank you, Dayle! Maybe you would have an opinion on Cliffrose or Desert Pearl in Springdale?? They both look really nice.

We stayed at the Wonderland Inn. The property was nice and clean especially for the price -- $58 for a family of three. The room was unusually large for a motel.
The owner (Diane) is a little nasty. But the property is in a good spot for access to CRNP & they also have a nice pool (indoor?). DO NOT eat in the restaurant for dinner! |
You might want to check out Boulder View Inn in Torrey. The rate is reasonable ($50), plus they give a discount of $5 if you book through their website. We stayed there last week and found the motel extremely clean and pleasant. Torrey is very close to Capitol Reef NP. As a matter of fact, Boulder View Inn is located right across Capitol Reef Inn.

A total and 100% DITTO to lauri_nyny!!! (although breakfast there was ok)
We'll be in Torrey again this summer but we'll be staying at the BW Captital Reef Inn. |
Thanks to all who replied -- I've booked 2 nights at the Wonderland Inn (on the phone with Diane, who seemed okay) for early September. I'll keep in mind the advice to not eat dinner there, though.

We stayed in Torrey just a couple of weeks ago at Days Inn, which is a fairly new and nice hotel with a decent pool (not a glorified bathtub like at some hotels). I recommend dinner at Capitol Reef Inn and Café.

My vote is for the Days Inn also. We stayed there last year and found it very comfortable. There CB was also quite good.
