Need HELP! San Diego dilemas.

I will be traveling with my hubby to San Diego in June while he is in an computer class the 20th-24th. We have a one year old and a 3 year old. What would be some things I can do while he is in class with two kids? My kids behave well and I don't fear taking them places. What would be an ideal part of town to stay in to have some cool places for kids that I could walk to with a stroller? We plan to stay an extra 4-6 days (depending on funds) after the school is over to do the SD Zoo, Legoland and Sea World thing. Anything else we should do? What would Del Mar have for kids? Thanks in advance for your help.

It depends on what you like, Del Mar I think is more for adults, it's kind of more on the high end of things, delicate shops and stuff like that...I would take your kids down to La Jolla shores, and walk along the cove there and it's a bit hilly, but there are some playgrounds around that area. There is also something called Mission Bay and you can take them to the playground there...Balboa park has lots of museums, (air and space) and a history museum I think too! You all should go to dinner at Casa de Bandini in Old Town, it's incredibly kid friendly but go early for better seating, fantastic margaritas! Enjoy san diego!!!! =0

I would agree that walking is possible in the downtown La Jolla area although walking to the La Jolla Shores Beach wouldn't be possible. You could also stay in Pacific Baech and walk along the boardwalk area. School will just be getting out in So. Cal so beaches will begin to get a little more crowded but June is not always as busy because it can be cloudy or foggy (June gloom). Another great choice would be Coronado.

Are you not going to have a car during the time your husband is in computer class? If you have a car then you could stay anywhere and drive to the beach areas or to Balboa park.

for the time that you are alone, i might recommend looking into the bahia resort (families seem to like this - an older facility), surfer motor lodge (stayed here years ago and had a two room suite with kitchen - they've recently renovated) or ocean park inn. all of these are in areas that have flat ground so the stroller would be easy and your 3 year old is not trying to tackle steep hills. you have the ocean beach to enjoy and then cross the street and you have a quiet bay (no swimming) that's nice to walk along if it's windy on ocean side. plenty of inexpensive family restaurants around.

I'd stay in the Mission Beach/Pacific Beach area - the boardwalk goes for miles- easy to push stroller- lots of restaurants and shops to explore -

Mision Bay Park is great for young kids. There are acres of grass to play on and picnic on, miles of paths along the shore of the bay to walk along, and playgrounds.

San Diego County Fair will be going on in Del Mar at that time. Great if you want to visit it, miserable if you're trying to drive through it.
