Need help in getting Wicked tickets
I'm trying to get tickets for a matinee or evening - whatever is better, cheaper, available - for March 20, 21, 22 - for two adults and a 13-yr-old. I've gone to a few sites, but everything seems sold out. Any suggestions? Is there something I can do with a gold Am Ex or through my concierge at the W where we'll be staying?

At this late date, your best bet might be through the concierge at your hotel. But, it won't be cheap! You have two performances to choose from--either a matinee on Sunday, March 20, or an evening performance on Tuesday, March 22. There is no performance on Monday. Relatively speaking, the Tuesday tickets are a better possibility.

One day playing on Ebay, I saw masses of tickets for Wicked available. Again, they aren't cheap, but at least some of them might be very good seats.
|
Thanks. I'll try both your suggestions.

The on-line web sites (stubhub et al) all seem to have tickets for Wicked avaialble on those dates - although naturally at a high premium - which you will probably also have to pay to your concierge (these are techically scalpers). You will probably do better on e-bay - if they have the date you want - but I would expect to pay about double face value.

I hope that you knowledgeable readers are still listening. I called the concierge at the W and he said they could get great tickets for $250 -$300. That's more than I expected, but it looks like I don't have many options. I haven't found anything on e-bay. I also found what seem to be good tickets at an on-line broker. Two questions. Does anyone know Platinumtickets.com (are they legit?, and can you tell me if Orchestra, centre row E at $255 seems good. (sounds good to me). Thanks.
|
I can answer the last question: Row E in the center is among the best you can get. Is it worth $255 a ticket? Only you (and your pocketbook) can answer that question.

Thanks. I think I'll go for it.

You also might try www.applause.com for another good ticket broker.
You could also try for other plays at TKTS when you get here, lots of shows are up at the TKTS booth. Also go to the South St. Seaport TKTS in the morning, you will have more shows to choose from the line there is so much shorter. The TKTS location is at the back of the Prudential Building (ok they were purchased recently so don't know if the name on the building has changed), on the corner of Water and Fulton St. Have a great time while you are here. |
Hi Suzanne,
We went to NYC the 1st weekend in Feb. We went to the TKTS booth at Times Sq. They told us they haven't had any Wicked tickets because it is so popular. We bought great seats (row 15) to see Beauty and the Beast for $60 each. Good luck. |
For such high prices, tickets are always available; I use Broadway Cares when I desperately want tickets at any price, at least part of the money goes for a good cause and you can get a tax receipt for half the amount you paid for the tickets......

You will love Wicked! I convinced my group of seven to go and see it, based on the recs here and the critic reviews, and everyone loved it. (boy was I relieved - spending their money for them!) Enjoy.
