Need Help - Going to Wedding Close to Rockville, MD

I've checked and I really didn't see anywhere to stay in Rockville. What would be best, Bethesda? We'd like something a bit upscale as we'll take the opportunity to turn it into a nice, long weekend. I'm unfamiliar with the area. Thank you as always!

If you would like to stay someplace upscale and have a nice long weekend, stay in Washington, DC. Rockville is about 20 miles from DC and is considered a "suburb" of DC. I would sacrifice for a longish drive to/from the wedding in order to have the fun of staying in town.

Unless you REALLY need convenience, i.e. proximity to help with the festivities, I'd suggest DC or perhaps Bethesda. If you need to be close, it depends where in Rockville the wedding is, but there are some options.

There's a Doubletree (not upscale but passable) on the Rockville Pike, which has nothing to offer but strip after strip of chain shopping, or there are scattered chain hotels/motels along I-270 including a Marriott Residence Inn. If the wedding's on the north side of Rockville, there's a Hilton in Gaithersburg I believe.

In Bethesda, there's a Hyatt in the heart of downtown. It's a nice midpoint with a quick, easy commute into DC. Of all the non-DC options, this would be the best.

All said, tho, DC seems a lot more appealing.

I had a feeling I was going to have to go with D.C. Thank you all! Very much appreciated.

Don't go back to Rockville, and waste another year!

I'm writing this from Rockville.

I agree that you should be in DC or Bethesda. Bethersda is an easy metro rie to DC and is stil close to Rockville.

Rockville became famous during the sniper scare.

Gotcha! Thanks for the advice. We've made reservations for a suite (!) at the Willard in D.C.

Good choice!

I've stayed at that Doubletree on Rockville Pike and not only is it nothing to write home about, but it's expensive to boot!
