Need help choosing lodging in Annapolis based on location.
 

Hello, I am trying to plan a 2 day trip to Annapolis (just a Sat and Sun) in late Sept or early Oct. I will be traveling with my daughter and the whole purpose of the trip is to allow her to visit a friend in the Naval Academy. I want a hotel that is in a great location for her and her friend to be able to walk from the hotel to restaurants and something to do. He will only have a few hours of liberty on Saturday and I don't want to feel like a 3rd wheel driver/chaperone. I would not mind knowing a good place to drop them off and then pick them back up at an appointed time but I would prefer to be in a great location hotel or B&B, etc... that they could walk from there to a restaurant and to shops or a park or some sort of attraction that could spend some time together and yet be able to come back and maybe relax a little around the hotel also before we have to take him back to the Academy. I could in the meantime do something on my own or just relax at the hotel myself. I rarely get downtime and the thought of day with nothing to do but read a good book is very tempting to me. I also love the water so I would probably go down to the waterfront at least for a while by myself. I do not care if it is a 5 star hotel, a historic B&B or a Motel-6, I just am interested in location.

The Marriott Waterfront fills the bill for location. Can walk to Academy, shops and restaurants. A bit pricey, but you'll get a good taste of wonderful Annapolis. Hope Navy doesn't have home football game because that will present vacancy problems. Good luck!

Thanks, I will check it out. We will definately not go on a home football game weekend because they are required to attend those and thus would not get liberty that day.

Early October weekends are a Definite problem in Annapolis. We have two boat shows running from Oct 4-8 and Oct 11-14. This takes care of the first part of october as the city and all hotels will be jammed. It's MUCH worse than Navy football.

There's a number of good hotels here in town with the Marriott having a primary spot on the harbor (Ego Alley) and looks out at the Academy. There is also a Loew's and a Callahans on West Street. Further down West Street there's a Day's inn.

In a very convenient area tucked about 5 minutes away from downtown is a Residence Inn, Hilton Garden, Homestead Suites and a number of suite type hotels (all in a good area) where you could probably get a nice place at a nice price. Many of the Mids spend weekends at that local shopping center (Annapolis Harbor Center) and I see them often.

Yes this helps very much!! Thank you so much. I'm trying to narrow down when we can go but we can't make any plans till plebe summer is over and we can find out for sure a Saturday that he be allowed liberty.

"Historic Inns of Annapolis" has 3 locations in the core of town, very near the USNA and the restaurants of Main St. and West St. All of the locations are nice, but the Governor Calvert House is the best of the three because the rooms are new (built onto the back of an old colonial mansion). It overlooks the Maryland State House.
