Need help-4 condo choices
Which condo is the best choice-Sugar Beach or Mana Kai in Kihei, or Wailea Ekahi Village or Grand Champions in Wailea. 2nd Honeymoon for us.
|
My husband and I stayed at Sugar Beach a little over a year ago. We really enjoyed it and would not hesitate to stay there again. The beach was never crowded and our one bedroom unit had everything we needed and was very clean.

Stayed at both Sugar Beach and Mona Kai before. We likes Sugar Beach's location better - go anywhere easily and don't have traffice jam to worry about. Great ocean view but the beach in front of the condo isn't like great - huge waves and very very windy.

Mona Kai is at the wonderful section of beach front. It's behind the marina - kind of isolated. You have to go through all the traffice lights to get to it - sometimes it can get annoying due to the traffice jam. It's a great place to watch Maui sunset.

I will choose Sugar Beach again - just because the location...

Try www.vrbo.com look at number 4083 in oahu.

Just a thought on Mana Kai. You DO NOT have to go thru all the traffic lights to get to it. There is an EASY shortcut that avoids all the Kihei Rd. traffic and brings you out right at the Mana Kai. I might be prejudiced, but I think that the Mana Kai is right on one of the BEST beaches I've ever seen and has one of the better and cheaper restaurants. I admit if you were not savvy enough to know about the shortcut, it would be a bear.

Hi e, I am very much interested in the Mana Kai. If you can, please tell more about it. Also, the "shortcut". How far is it from the Renaissance? Thanks
|
Joy,

If I may interject here, the Mama Kai Maui is right up the beach from the Renaissance, easy walking distance. It's the first condo beginning the "condo strip" in Kihei, right on the Kihei-Wailea line, and there is no contest between the beach areas (Sugar Beach vs Mana Kai). Mana Kai's is way better. Now the condos themselves? The Ekahi and Grand Champions as a rule are fancier but also more expensive. I plan to stay at Mana Kai next time I go, so I can walk to the Renaissance for breakfast, and my husband will walk the Wailea Resort Walkway. Sugar Beach will be the cheapest, but I'd rather have the great beach!

Thanks Lani, Sounds like Mana Kai is the place for us. We have always stayed at The Renaissance, but this year we want a condo so that our family can be with us. We love that area. Thanks so much for your help.

The shortcut is the next street after the MKai going east towards Wailea. You turn left and go up the hill until you get to the Pialani Hwy, turn left and you're on your way towards Lahaina, the airport, or wherever--without going west down Kihei Rd. The hotels in Wailea are only two minutes west of the MKai. By now the Pialnai Hwy. is probably built all the way into Wailea. So if you are staying at the Renaisance, you probably don't even have to go back to the MKai to pick it up. Hope this is helpful, let me know if you have any other questions.Maui is our favorite spot.

I'm sorry Joy, I forgot to mention the MKAI. If your looking for a condo experience and not a "lush resort" experince and you want to be in the Kihei-Wailea area----The MKai CANNOT be beat. It is one of the only condos that sits right on the beach. And what a beautiful beach!!! Great for swimming, sunning, walking, snorkeling and sunsets. The pool restaurant and the inside restaurant are very good and not expensive. We met people there that have been coming back for twenty years! They also have packages with cars at very resonable rates. We like the high level rooms in the middle of the building near the elevator. You can see the beach looking one way and Mt. Haileakula the other. Each room has an extra bedroom that you can choose to rent or not, depending on the size of your family. Just to give you an idea of what a great location it is-- we inquired about ownership and were told the unit we were in was for sale for $450,000. We priced other units in Kihei across the street from the main Kihei beach and they were only $130,000. Hope this helps --e
