Need great hotel with super robes in D.C.
Heading to D.C in April and I am in dire need of a wonderful hotel with robes to match. Pleae help. Please also advice on dining and what to wear.
|
hmmmm, whenever we get robes in a hotel, they always match.
|
I have to admit that when I book a nice hotel, I never think about the robes. I don't think about the towels and sheets either, I just figure they will be there.
muffin, you might want to see someone about the robe fixation :) |
Oh sorry I actually wish the robes to match the quality of the hotel. I really don't require that all the robes match each other although they usually do. I must confide though having multiple color robes to choose from in your suite would be a splendid and rather zippy...don't you think! **smooch**

Muffin -
Why don;t you just pick a nice hotel - the new Mandarin Oriental is supposed to be super - then just send you own superwonderful robe from home? that way you won;t be disappointed! |
Hi Muff!
Don't know about the D.C. one exactly, but the St. Regis, LA had robes to die for! So comfy and elegant, too, and not heavy like some. I bought one for my DS for Christmas, and he said he wants to be buried in it! |
Muffin honey: either the Four Seasons on the edge of Georgetown or the Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City, across the Potomac River from D.C. And the bonus is that is you don't think the robes at that Ritz are fab enough, there is a Nordstroms in the mall attached to the hotel, so you can just ringy-dingy and Nordstroms will hand carry their finest robe up to your room.
Now, let's discuss dining. What are you looking for? Great view, power players, certain type of sophisticated food- we need details. Then we can give advice on what to wear, although with your flair, I almost hesitate to give advice. But onthe other hand dear, your leather pants or the little black and white number you wore on your last two airline trips would not be right for D.C. so get ready for a makeover. I'm not sure D.C. is ready for Muffin. |
Looking for a super comfortable hotel that is in easy walking distance from the local fav places to visit. I went to D.C a few years back and thought I was going to a shopping mall only to discover that the MALL doesn't have stores! Ugggg! We will probably have to tour that plus be able to feel safe and secure. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. **smooch**

the mall didn't have stores!!! That's a good one!
|
You could try to Four Seasons or the Ritz, both in Georgetown.
|
I don't know, Muffin, if the robes match the hotel they're going to be awfully big. I don't think your cat will like them.
|
this particular interest in robes makes me suspicious of the intentions of muffin - I can only hope that they are of a perfectly legitimate nature and do not have anything to do with a possible change of possession after check-out...;-)

The trouble w/D.C. is that none of the hotels are really in "easy walking distance" to the favorite places to visit (nevermind about the robes). The hotels are "off the mall" (the one without stores) and those blocks are mighty long when one is walking. So for instance if you stay at the Willard or JW Marriott, which appear to be close to the "mall" (the one without the stores), you have to walk all the way across the "mall" (that one without the stores) to get to many of the Smithsonian museums or the Washington Monument (closed now, opneing in spring sometime) or the Memorials that are on the "mall" (the one without the stores). So it is really just as convenient to stay across the river in Pentagon City at the Ritz because then you get the "mall" right there too-- THE ONE WITH ALL THE STORES!!! And you can access the other "mall" (without the stores) easily by metro.
Comprende vu? |
Comprende, malls without stores, NO, LOL.
But muffin's threads are always fun. |
Thanks for the information so far. To be sure I would never take a robe without paying for it that would not be right. The hotels are so kind to me I could never repay them by walking off with there special wardrobes they provide.
**smooch** |
If you are willing to spring for a room at the Willard you'll get the robes AND be within walking distance of the major sites.
