Need good bakery in Summit County area
We are staying in Silverthorne the week before Christmas. I need to order a birthday cake and possibly some other bakery items so I am looking for a high quality local bakery. I am willing to drive for quality as long as it is not all the way back to Denver. :) Would prefer to get it in Summit County if at all possible. Thanks in advance!

The Butterhorn Bakery, in Frisco (about 5 miles from Silverthorne), is a very good local bakery (though I prefer the croissants made by Clint's, down the road in Breckenridge). I've never ordered a cake from the Butterhorn, but all the baked goods I've had from there (mostly breakfast stuff) have been great.

Lexma90: Thanks for the info. I thought I would probably find something in Frisco. Would Clint's be a better option?

Just ordered a cake from Butterhorn. Cindy was very helpful. We will plan to eat breakfast there and then pick up the cake. Thanks again for the info!

I love the Butterhorn for breakfast. I haven't tried their cakes but they have delicious and beautiful pastries.

amwosu, You must be headed to Aspen very soon! Are you excited? Have a great time! Nature's been good to you this week. :-)

There is the Blue Moon bakery in Dillon, you might see if they do cakes.
Dillon is right next to Silverthorne, most cannot tell where one town starts and the other town ends |
Hey Grasshopper, five more days of work for 2004 (although as an elementary PE teacher I love my job and am not really counting the days) then I'm off to Aspen for a week and then to Keystone for a week. Aspen IS my favorite place on earth for Christmas. The week before is awesome because there aren't any crowds on the mountains or in the restaurants. We can ski on fresh corduroy for several hours every day before there are any other skiers to mess it up. We always start the week at Buttermilk to warm up and they have a new high speed lift on West Buttermilk so we won't get hypothermia before we reach the top anymore.
I still need to make ressies for Christmas dinner in Aspen and NYE in Summit County. |
apseals - I don't know if Clint's does cakes, I think it's mostly croissants, bagels, foccaccia, quiches. The Butterhorn is more of a full-service place, with cookies, tarts, torts and cakes (and a restaurant for breakfast and lunch). I'd go with the Butterhorn. I've heard of the Blue Moon, but haven't ever bought anything from there (merely because Clint's and the Butterhorn are both closer for us).

Just got back from Silverthorne. The Butterhorn Bakery in Frisco was great. The cake that I ordered was beautiful and very good. We ate breakfast there twice. I would recommend both their food and special cakes to order. They were very helpful and nice. Thanks Fodorites once again! :)
