Need details about Top of the Rock

We will be in NYC for three nights this month, over a weekend. Will we be able to view the city from Rockefeller Center on a weekend evening? Does anyone know what days it might be closed, and what hours it's open? It sounds like a must-do for us. Thanks!

The website says 8am-midnight, 365 days a year. I went up this past Friday night, and it was very nice. There are three levels. When we went up, there were no lines.

Great views:

Thanks, ms_go! You don't think pre-purchased tickets are necessary? I'd rather keep a flexible schedule, and think we'd probably want to go up to the Top on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., just before it closes. Do they make you leave the Top, though, at 11:00 p.m.?

To clarify, I mean: do they make you leave the observation area by midnight? I understand the doors close at 11:00 p.m.

Pre-purchasing tickets never hurts...and there's a discount available through Season of Savings!

Hey, Tarheels, thanks for the 20 percent discount! I've printed copies of it for each adult.

Anytime It's a great program, but I'm not sure a lot of people are aware so I try to spread the word when I can!

There are also many places to purchase tickets within Rockefeller Center from a number of booths at street level, not just inside the Observatroy access area. Since so few tourists have discovered this jewel, they are really trying to promote the visit. You will also see Rock Center employees handing out flyers promoting it. We had bought our tickets already, were walking along holding them, when an employee stopped us and gave us each a flyer. He said we should have one, because the flyers have great photos and make a nice souvenir. He was correct.

Just be aware that it can get very chilly up there, so dress warmly.
