Need D.C. Restaurant Help

Hi; Need help in selection a few restaurants. I have looked at many 'fodorites' suggestions and have a list. We will select two for dinner. Our other three nights we would like to use www.restaurant.com/ This week, a $25 dollar coupon can be had for $2 dollars. Or a $50 for $4 dollars. [The key code word this week is 'BITE'.] Can anyone look at this web site and use zip 20004, one mile or five miles and see if there are any worthwhile restaurants to buy a coupon. Our location is the W Hotel [with points]. Perhaps within walking distance to our hotel. We don't mind walking two or three miles. Thanks Richard

P.S. We like Italian, French, Spanish, Mexican and of course American cuisine.

Why in the world would you walk two or three miles for dinner? Do you not intend to use Metro?

iris1745 Mar 12th, 2010 05:23 AM

Beatuiful evening, good weather--Why not?? The 'metro' or 'taxi' only if saftey is a concern. So, please help me out on my restaurant question.

the only ones on the 5 miles list that I would bother with would be

Contemporary | Italian
Spezie
1736 L Street NW

Asian | Sushi
Singapore Bistro
1134 19th St. NW

Asian | Indian
Himalayan Heritage Restaurant & Bar
2305 18th Street NW

Thanks; We will definitely try Spezie's. Richard

Pulled a 'coupon' for Spezie's. Only for $25 dollars that cost $2 dollars. Any more help? Thanks

Both of these are in the U Street/Shaw corridor. I've been to the first which is Ethiopian and it's comparable to the other good ones there. Haven't been to 1905 but I've read some good things about it. American cuisine.

Queen of Sheba
1503 9th Street NW
Washington, DC 20001

1905
1905 9th St NW
Washington, DC 20001

That's an interesting scheme for discount dining. Mostly they seem like neighborhood kind of places and not really destinations for dining. Not that there's anything wrong with that. For the record I've eaten at two other places on that list, Placitas and Twin Jazz. Placitas had ok mexican food but was a filthy restaurant. Twin Jazz (also U Street area) had terrible food but GREAT jazz. In both cases I wish I'd only paid $2.

We always go to the Old Ebbitt Grill. Just Make a reservation. You will be glad you did. It has the best atmosphere in town. It's on 15th street very close to the White House. Across from the commerce building. Check our pictures at http://www.dave-lori-home.com/WashingtonDC.htm We go every year. You will love the location near the museums and memorials.
