Need Condo Advice gulf coast Florida

My sister and I are traveling for spring break into the Tampa/st pete area.

We are looking for family friendly
nice condo. Not dumpy, frumpy or Mom/Pop.

Criteria:

3 bedrooms or Large 2 bedrm. unit.
(husbands will be with us a few nights)
Pool for the kids
beach front
near restaurants, not necessary to
walk to
Budget: $200-300 night.

I have tried to look at vrbo but it's endless and you open each one, to look at the calendar. LONG
process.

Any thoughts, ideas, tips, etc;

Is this impossible?

thanks

ok, two evenings looking at
1980's era condos: turquoise
walls, pink and baby blue
furniture, polyester bedding.

Help!!!

I am about ready to throw
in the beach towel and get
a hotel room.

I'm bumping your post up so that hopefully someone can help you. The Pass-a-grille area of St Pete Beach is nice, but I don't know what rentals are available there.

Thanks, there are a millon condos and I can't find the "right" one/deal. I will keep looking.

I am looking on vrbo and homeway.

I really need to be able to insert the dates for a search since it's a busy month. (march).

Thanks for the Bump!

My family has loved staying at Siesta Dunes on Siesta Key, just south of Tampa. Last year we paid $1500 for a week in April. Our unit didn't face the beach, but the complex is right on the Gulf, with some units facing the water and others just a very short walk away. I believe they are all 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and spacious. Ours had a brand new kitchen and bath and was very nicely decorated. There is a nice pool and hot tub and a sun deck right on the beach. There are also 2 tennis courts. The beach is beautiful. I believe the website is www.siestadunes.com.

I have reommended this Inn so many times I feel like a broken record. It is in Tresure Island. They are individually owned condo's. You can rent a 2 or 3 bedroom, just ask for an oacean front unit. It will have a balcony. It is close to John's Pass which has boat rental, restaurants, shopping and a fun boardwalk. It does have a pool but it is not large. You can check it out at: http://www.islandinnresort.com/

Thanks!

Now, don't think i am a snob, I am not...but I am in interior designer. Whereever we stay has to have been decorated in the last 10 years.

I know. Just say it.

But, it is my profession! The Inn is just too 1979.

Maybe I am asking too much, esp in March.

Thanks, I will check out all of the suggestions.

We spent a week at Anna Maria Island and rented a house with a pool for 9 people. It was awesome. We had 3 kids and parents and grandparents with us. It was a block from the beach, pool and huge deck and also bikes and water toys for the kids. We had big open kitchen area and plenty of sleeping, washer/dryer. Everyone there had a great time. found it on VRBO - Mike Norman Realty

My family of four just returned from a 10-day Christmas vacation in St.Pete's Beach, Orlando, and Tallahassee. We found a great beach resort in St. Pete's: Tradewinds Resort Island Grand (http://www.tradewindsresort.com). The people were friendly, food was good, right on the beach (it is worth the extra money to stay right on the gulf). The price is amazing for a resort....I think it's the best deal in the area. They do have a 2-bedroom suite, but I haven't checked the price. They just renovated it recently....the furniture is basic shore style but clean and pretty. We stayed in the Jacaranda bldg because someone on this site recommended it and we were glad we did. 4th floor....great view! Good luck!

OUTSTANDING units here on Indian Rocks Beach:

gulfsideresorts.com

Expensive, but you get what you pay for! :)

beachkomer Jan 8th, 2009 11:17 AM

wow. Thanks!

BTW, beachkomer, my favorite of the gulfsideresorts.com's properties is "Sarah's Seaside" but they're all very nice, and in a great location! The pools are more of a small, dip 'n splash type ... so that might not be what your kids are after, but the beach is fabulous so the pool size is not that important to me.

sarah's is so sweet! I love it.
I am sending all of this to my
sister.

Thanks!

After hours of searching, I found a home not on the beach, but a street over and next to the beach access.

It's on Clearwater Beach island.
I am waiting to hear from the owner.

It's a nice Key west style house, with a pool and 3 bdrm.

Not frumpy. Island chic, not pink or turquoise dolphin stuff.

Most of the condos I looked at:
if they just spent money on paint,
and some new furniture, they would probably get a lot more renters.

Or, is it just me? I know, I'm picky, but if there are thousands of condos, I will try and get one that is newer and has a nice "vibe".

:)

Sarahs secret was $4,000 a week...
too much $! It was nice looking!
