Need Binoculars
Does anyone know of good binoculars, small, yet powerful? I'm wanting some for my Florida Keys vacation that will involve a seaplane trip to the Dry Tortugas, and some sailing excursions. A model number and source would be appreciated!

go to www.rei.com. they feature several types of binoculars, and they have a comparison chart for easy reference.

I'm somewhat fond of Olympus optics and a decent pair can be had at costco.com for $50. The 8-16's are $30 more but I'd get the cheaper one's.

Olympus Tracker 7-15x25 Zoom PC Binoculars
Anti-reflective UV Lens Coating

$49.99
Thanks for the tips! the rei.com site also has a useful article on "How to buy binoculars." One more question: if I'm flying in a seaplane at 500' altitude any additional tips or comments for which binocs. I would choose for viewing birds and sea life?

Best birding binos are 8x40 or 42; 8x 30 would also do. I suggest www.eagleoptics.com--great buying guide, and their house brand is an excellent value. They are also extremely helpful over the phone. (Wish I could get something from them for this plug-o-rama!)
