I mentioned the Globe. My mussels and frittes were good, but the rest of the group were less pleased with their meal. I thought it may have been due to the group size. Sounds like - not. So, even though the space is amazing, I'll agree with skipping the Globe on your visit, LiznJack.

Well we are definately looking forward to this trip. Just wish we could have more time now.

I'm sure we will try to get to Eno as we both really like wine and I'm sure we'll have at least one drink at the hotel bar. I wish something was going on at the Fox while we are going to be there. Oh well, we'll just have to come back.

I guess we'll skip the Globe based on the suggestions here. Maybe try to find a good Italian place for Jack's birthday night. Is Sotto Sotto far from midtown? It seems to have gotten some really good reviews.

Going to St. Marks on sunday sounds fun and wasn't something i had considered before. I don't know if we'll get there. So much to do!

Anyway, thanks again starsville, theDude, Lex, and Brian and Charlotte for taking the time to write and share your suggestions!

Sotto Sotto is in Inman Park, which is pretty close - I used to run by it on my jogging route which started near your hotel. But you'll want to take a cab or drive - you wouldn't want to walk through the neighborhoods you'd need to at night to get there.

Sotto Sotto is good, sort of like a NY restaurant with tables very close together.

If you're going to take a cab, our favorite restaurant in Atlanta was Babette's just south of Virginia Highland (5-minute cab ride). Wonderful food in a comfortable setting at decent prices. www.babettescafe.com.

Alternatively, Baraonda is right across the street from your hotel is a great place definitely in your price range (especially if you like real Italian-style pizzas). www.baraondaatlanta.com

FYI on the Fox Theatre. Although from what you say there arent any shows while you are in town, you can still take a tour of the place on Mon, Wed, Thurs at 10 am and Saturdays at 10 and 11 am. Here is the link: http://foxtheatre.org/tours.htm

Hi,

First off I want to apologize for not writing sooner. Life has been crazy since we've gotten home.

Second, we had an awesome time! Thanks so much to everyone who helped us.

We were in Atlanta for really only one day so the trip was too short!! We went to the High Museum on Saturday which was amazing. Saw the collection from the Louvre that is on display. Really great that the High has that arrangement. Wonderful!

We checked into our hotel in the late afternoon. We stayed at the Hotel Indigo which was really a very cute, inviting and welcoming place. We both thought it should be on the beach in Miami somewhere. We read that the rooms were small so we were expecting this. They are small but not too small. The bed was great and really comfortable. It was huge with great pillows and linens. The shower was also big enough for two

All in all we would absolutely stay at Indigo again. The only drawback is that drinks at the hotel bar are REALLY expensive. Like 10 dollars each which is too bad because it was fun sitting out front and watching the people walk by Peachtree.

Before dinner we went to Eno which is a wine bar on Peachtree (and fifth I think). That was really nice. We each had a glass of an Italian red -- can't remember the variatal and we had the waiter pick out a cheese plate and olive sampler to go along with it. We sat outside on the terrace. It was great because there was a wedding at St. Marks across the street so we drank our wine and wathced all the guests arrive. All in all we loved Eno. Thanks for that suggestion!

Then we took a cab to Sotto Sotto for dinner. Great place! We loved it. Everyone sitting by us was so friendly and nice and the waiter was very helpful with suggestions for food and wine. I had the fish of the day which was wonderful and Jack had the mushroom risotto. We both loved that. We split of appatizer of scallops which was really great -- maybe our favorite thing. Dessert was just ok. The waiter suggested this wonderful bottle of Amerone. It was delicious and really complimented the food.

We were at the resturaunt for awhile and then took a cab to Virginia and Highland and we went to the bars there. Really a great area. I can't remember our favorite bar there but it was one that you guys recommended. We had drinks in about 4 or 5 places.

Then we cabbed back to the hotel and crashed. We were exhausted! The next morning we drove back to the Virginia/Highlands area and went to a bakery. I can't remember the name but it is quite popular and I think recommended to us here. That place was wonderful. We had scones and a pistacheo pastry and coffee. Really delicious. Jack wanted to buy a bottle of wine but it was Sunday so no sale.

We spent the rest of the morning just window shopping in the Virginia Highlands area and then for lunch we drove to a Thai place near Emory. Shoot, I can't remember the name of that place either but the food was really terrific. I have the card if anyone is interested in the name. We highly recommend it!

So, that was our very quick trip to Atlanta. We had a blast and are already planning our return visit. We just didn't spend nearly enough time there.

Thank you again for everyone who gave us recommendations and suggestions. We really appreciate it and you helped to make Jack's birthday really memorable!!

Liz

Great to see you enjoyed your stay in Atlanta. By the way, how busy was the High Museum on a Saturday? I'm looking forward to going to the High Museum to see the Louvre exhibit but dont want to fight the crowds.
