Need a rental car in Seattle?
My boss is going to Seattle for 2 days and is staying in Pikes Market area. Will he need a rental car, or will taxis be good to get around?

Karen

No need to rent a car, public transportation is awesome in Seattle. In the downtown area, the buses are free. The people of Seattle are very helpful. If you rent a car, it just poses more problems like parking, ect.

J.B. from Michigan

We just returned from the Seattle area. I agree. There is plenty to see and do for two days in the Pikes Place Market area without a car. And the busses ARE free within a prescribed geographic area. Despite that, I would recommend finding some way to get to Kerry Park. It is a small city park just off Queen Anne north of the Space Needle and it is the view of downtown Seattle most people see on travel brochures. It is breath-taking day or evening.

Seattle's a great walking city. We enjoyed the Inn at the Market, right in the center of everything. Have a wonderful time!

Hey thanks you guys. Sometimes a car is more hassle than it's worth, if you can get around all right with walking and taxis. He's going to be staying at the Inn at the Market too, so the information was very helpful!

We flew out to Seattle for five nights a few years ago. A freind who goes often told us we wouldn't need a car. The first two days were wonderful --walking everywhere, and taking a shuttle a couple of times, but by the third day we went out and rented a car so we could see some of the neighboring attractions, and we were glad we did. Later I found out my friend never rents a car because she stays with her sister who has a car. DUH! But for someone only staying two days, I agree you won't need a car.
