Need a recommendation for Door County lodging.

My husband and I are planning a weekend getaway the end of this month, and have always wanted to visit the Door County area. Since we've never been, I've been doing my homework, but still am not sure where to stay. The Ashbrooke in Egg Harbor looks great, but I understand it doesn't have a water view, which I would love. We are looking for upscale, romantic but also close to everything. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Would Sister Bay be a better town to stay in since we've never been there?

There are better Door County experts on this board than I, but I'll try to help. I was going to recommend possibly the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek or the Edgewater in Ephraim. If I recall, both Fish Creek and Ephraim are more centrally located than Egg Harbor or Sister Bay. You'd easily be able to drive to either to explore, but Fish Creek and Ephraim have many good shops and restaurants.

I've never stayed at either location (we have family friends with a beautiful house in Egg Harbor), but I've visited the White Gull Inn for the fish boil, breakfast, etc. Not sure if any of the rooms or cottages offer a water view, but it's right by the bay.

I hope this helps...good luck, and enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for your feedback! I'll see what I can find in Fish Creek. We just want to be in an area that offers some options along with a nice place to stay.

I've also heard good things about a B&B in Fish Creek called Thorp House. I don't have any firsthand experience with it, but you might want to check it out. Good luck!
